Re: heater not getting hot can anyone help please

do you have a bleed screw above the thermostat housing
have a play with that to get some air out
after that my knowledge has been exhausted
good luck

Re: heater not getting hot can anyone help please

air block or not enough water is the favourite

where on the temp dial does it go to when on a 5+ mile journey

also put your hand on the pipes that go to the heater

that will tell you something too

Re: fuel pump

after taking the black top casing off, you'll see the top of the fuel pump. note there is 2 gaps in the flanging bits. tap them anti clockwise with a hammer and screwdriver or chisel bit to unscrew. the rest is obvious by looking. straight forward enough job for most basic home mechanics. good luck ...

it will be the metal anti-squeal shield.
they are usually so rusty you can just bend it back with your fingers to stop the rubbing noise
raise the wheel rotate it and check for noise
then take wheel of and rotate the disc. you'll see and hear it

had a very similar thing with mine
if with the heater on (but not spinning) in the dark do the lights slighly dim as you hear the click sound
if so its the heater motor draining the power.
disconnect the fuse for the heater and you will confirm this if there is no click

5 series diesel

starting to like the look of 530d & 535d 1999 and newer

had a 535d fly past me the other day on the motorway, came out of nowhere and accelerated from 80 - whatever like a rocket.

anyone know about the pitfalls of these and what to look for, maybe theres a forum like this one out there for them

before you mess around with any of the above mentioned 'fixes' you need to fully measure the settings around the whole car using wire & levels etc. start from checking all tracking, camber, toe, pre load & corner weights etc. when you got these set correct then the car will be balanced. theres far m...
