Re: 318is M3 Project or 24v conversion?
From what I've researched 200bhp is easily doable with one of the GKD/Mini Supercharger conversions. Maybe more if you mess with the cam timing and get proper management (the 200bhp figure is based on using a rrfpr like the Downing Atlanta kits which isn't really the best solution) I've also seen a ...

Re: 318is M3 Project or 24v conversion?
A 2.5 is a waste of time when there are so many lighter 2.8 engines out there So, either 2.8 M52 or supercharged 4 pot 8) Rather than M42 why not start off with a 1.9 M44? You could even stroke it to 2.1 or thereabouts Ideally i'd stick a 2.8 in as they're around 20-30kgs lighter then the 2.5 if it...

Re: 318is M3 Project or 24v conversion?
Any opinions on the driveablility of an M50 engined E30? I already know how the engine feels but do they loose much in the way of nimbleness etc or does the increased grunt offset it enough to make up?

318is M3 Project or 24v conversion?
So, after a while out of the E30 scene i've finally returned to the fold with a 318is in need of a little love. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/extremeHDcam/WP_20140215_010-NoREG.jpg I got lucky on eBay and found a H-reg on 149k for very little money. Now.. I have a bit of a dilema. I'm goi...

Re: Sick of the rear camber
You mean the "Camber Plate- adjustable street" that Ireland Eng sell? Hmm nice solution - and i could quite easily mod my existing plates as you suggest.
£150ish if i bought from there.. I can get a rear set of tyres and springs for cheaper surely?? (albeit by increasing the rake)

Sick of the rear camber
Well, I put a new set of rubbers on the back in the summer and just over 3000 miles later they're already down to the wear indicators on the inside of the tyres... not good! So I have two options - higher the car at the back, or get some fab work going on around round the rear suspension turrets. I'...

Unfortunately i became a victim of the high curb+low car= holy sump club this weekend  This'll be the third sump that i've had on the car since i bought it; the first needed replacing as it was leaky and had been bodge welded to reapair it and the second one i'd only had on 2 weeks before it me...

Re: lowering
It is though dude.. Rake FTW, reverse rake FTL Reverse rake is the stuff of Boyracers in Pugs n Paxo's Agreed.. having rake towards the front not only looks better, but will reduce the amount of camber (tyre wear) on the rear wheels also. (although in fairness to Daryll, it doesnt look that bad on ...

Re: lowering
E30's naturally sit higher at the front.. surely he'd want the front lower to balance the car out. (hence 60mm front 40mm rear.. which would leave the car sitting ontop of the wheels) I agree, 60mm at the front is abit too low tho. Also, if your only lowering the car on springs without the appropria...

Re: lowering
60/60 means you will get to be an expert at changing sumps, and will get used to throwing away rear tyres that still have 3/4 of their tread left. Very true, I bought mine like this and had to replace the tyres almost immediately when i realised that they were bald on the inside, despite looking br...

Re: Which Gasket for my Sump? ? ?
Yeah i've given them the chassis number and alsorts. town325i - that must be why they've been giving me the wrong gasket in the past I've just spoken to JCT600 BMW and they wouldn't order the part in for me unless i went down and pre-paid for it in cash (before they'd place the order)!! They wouldn'...

Which Gasket for my Sump? ? ?
I've been trying to find a new sump gasket for the past few weeks, but everytime i go to an autofactor they give me the wrong shape, despite taking my reg number and checking the model of my car! This is a long shot, but does anyone on here know the part number for my sump: http://i93.photobucket.co...

The plugs are good - i'll check the AFM, cap, rotor and inlet manifold after work to see if i can find out where the airs getting in.

Re: Go Go gadget Rodent repeller!?!?
They were quoting me around £80!!!! (for either set) although the Halfrauds own brand ones were £40... although i wouldn't be too confident with them!
My H.T leads look fine tbh, in which case it's probably not worth swapping them. Where would i start looking for air leaks? (million dollar question)

Go Go gadget Rodent repeller!?!?
I've just phoned up a couple of motorfactors to get quotes for a new set of H.T as my car has alittle bit of a lumpy idle and got asked a really odd question... They had two different sets of H.T leads in stock: One set WITH Rodent repeller and one set WITHOUT Rodent repeller. Is Rodent infestation ...

Re: Which Oil should i use?
I guess the higher viscosity will make everything have to work that little bit harder, resulting in decreased mpg.. and tbh fuel economy is one of the main reasons that im servicing the car. (to try see if fresh oil, fluids and filters can improve the mpg) as its currently averaging bellow 27mpg wit...

Hmm i can see what you mean - I presume also, that by using a higher viscosity oil then there's less chance of the tappets starting to tap also?

out of interest (bearing in mind that im new to E30's in general)... Whats the difference between a 318 i (such as mine) and a 318 iS? Does the 's' stand for sport? If so why would this be more frugal with fuel - surely it'd be the opposite?
