Re: e30 project advice
Ok thanks for advice. I will have to have a look and see if the tech 1 is genuine as it has had kit on since bought from dealer and has all the tech 1 stickers etc. To find this, I will get plate and check with an insurance company?

Strange. Looks like it is ment to be there. Just had a look at the tech 1s on here and the line pattern down the side is the same so it is probably just a tech 1.

Lightened flywheel?
Hi
I am changing the engine on my car soon and was wondering about lightening the fly wheel. What gains will I expect by doing this? Also, how is it done? I have a mate who works for a machining company who would be able to do it but am unsure what to do and how much to take off.

Hi
I am looking to buy a new car and was wondering what to look out for. I know all the rust spots so thats ok. I just want to know if there is any way to see if the engine, clutch or gearbox are on there way out?

I have cable ties on now but they are not that tight. the rubber boot has a ridge about 5mm from the end which I assume fits into the grove which is on the drive shaft. The problem is that thecable ties dont hold the boot in place that firmly as the cable tie is so close to the edge. Will it be ok t...

Thats not bad welding for such thin metal. Once you have got it grinded down flat and sanded is smooth it will look good. I wish I had could have the gutts to cut a big hole in a panel of my car

Re: OBC LED converting
Ok, they have the resistor built in so dont need one. The higher the voltage, the brighter the light so 10v will give a decent amount of light. Try putting the red wire to the top and the black to the bottom and give it a go. All that can happen if they are the wrong way round it it wont light up. C...

No, completely dry. I used to get water in there through the light seal but sorted that now. As I said, I was in the boot while someone sprayed everywhere with the hose and nothin came in.

Ill have a look under the arches and boot but im pritty sure they are solid. If the filler doesnt have a lid on, even though no water is getting in, could this cause condensation in the boot.

Yes, they have to be the right way round and you would need a resistor in series with the LED. what is the voltage to the light strip?

Condesation in the boot!!
Hi I seem to be getting alot of condensation in my boot. When I open it up, the boot lid is dripping wet, the carpet is wet and everything I put in gets wet. I got in my boot last night and got a mate to spray it with a hose all over and I checked for leaks with a torch through the lights, boot seal...

If this is a single point venturi LPG system (Leonardo?), then I doubt if there's much wrong with the ignition system. Ignition faults tend to make themselves known on LPG cars in quite a dramatic manner! Does this happen on LPG and petrol? IS it a Leonardo system? If so, what does the laptop displ...

Hi
Forgot to mention, Its on LPG so wont shouldnt have anything to do with the fuel system. I have reset the ecu when following the chip fitting guide so dont think its that. Couldnt having a very small air leak cause this?

Re: Water in passenger footwell
With the water leak, I had this problem. Your best of removing the glovebox completely from the bulk head and check for signs of where water might be coming from. Try tipping talcom powder over the scuttle and bonnet and roof areas and wash down. When this dries, it will leave white powder where the...

Maybe that. I have given it a full service about a month ago, spark plugs, oil, fuel filter, oil filter, adjusted valves. Still no better. Maybe I have got used to it! Could the rotor arm and dizzy cap have anything to do with this or even HT leads?

Hi I have had my e30 325 for about a year now and when I first had it, it felt pritty quick. Did you drive the car after fitting the chip? If not take the car for a thrashing. the chip does lower the idle revs. did you restart after resetting the ecu too? there is a correct procedure found on the wiki section. Hi
I recently swaped my ECU chip back from the wild chip to the standard chip in my ECU on my 325. Now, when idling, it is at 500 rpm and is nearly stalling.
Does anyone know what this could be?
Cheers

You should really get a 325 se and do that to it rather than taking apart a perfectly good genuine sport.
