Re: Quick diff question

You shouldn't need to adjust the prop at all, your just need to arse around with it for a while to get it all to line up. I spent an hour or so with a trolley jack under mine trying to get the prop bolted on before I lined up the rear beam bolts. Some people also put studs into their diffs and just ...

Re: 325i back box

Put an advert on the "wanted" page, pick up a standard one, sounds nicer than any aftermarket as you get more of the engine noise rather than the awful farting burble that a lot of aftermarket backboxes give. Or if you are really adament about an aftermarket 'box, get a Scorpion one with the standar...

I'd agree with this, and rebush the trailing arm joints while you're at it :)

Re: M20 2.5 Timing Belt Change Parts List

I've just done the disassembly, the really hard bit was the fan. You need a 32mm flat spanner which I did not have, ended up cutting a 32mm slot in a pine plank and then planing it down until it was thin enough to fit the space - 11pm at night when I realised I was missing the tool. Lucky the plank...

Re: Fuel level inaccuracy

Ok cool I will check those two things over the weekend. If not this, could it be a busted fuel gauge/sender which would have to be replaced? You say there are two senders (one on each side) so if one is busted, that would likely be the reason for the wrong reading?

Fuel level inaccuracy

Hi there, Im having inaccuracies in my petrol level reading on the dash. When I turn on the car for the first time it will show the correct amount (say half a tank) and then whilst driving around for a while it will go right down. At first i thought i was getting really bad fuel consumption or a lea...

Re: M20 2.5 Timing Belt Change Parts List

yeah i have used GSF in the past and their parts are pretty good for the price. I'm about to attempt the same stuff on my 325ix so we can swap notes :) Like previously mentioned, gonna do everything on the front end of the engine at once, all auxillery belts, water pump, timing belt/tensioner etc. Y...

Re: 325ix - my new daily

I have heard there is a spacer to push the 2nd prop further in the the transfer case to give the splines more grip and prevent future ware... I think a few people in the US just fab up longer driveshafts for them, which seems to be the stronger way of doing it, and there was one guy who machined up...

Re: 325ix - my new daily

Most of it is done, i just need to finish off the brake lines, fuel lines, windows, some electrical work and then just aesthetics on the outside (bit of paint etc). Not trying to make it mint, just something to have a bit of fun in you know. That m50 ran well when it was in his so nice one on gettin...

Re: 325ix - my new daily

Get that on ebay, such a rare extra should make tidy money! Top mounts are quite different to standard E30s. Is that for extra ground clearance? Don't think I wanna put it on the 'Bay right now, cause I want to keep the car as it is standard. Will be worth more in total in the future :) Yeah the st...

Diamantschwarz (Metallic Black) is a good colour for an e30, makes the BBS look nice.

@ Ross

It hasn't been out yet, i've been really slow getting it ready cause of money and time issues with work etc!

It will be out by the August hill, and possibly L'etaq attack as well. Then next year the plan is to do a lot more events and possibly dirt :)

Which one is yours?

Yeah I'm up for a meet, on a nice day down St. Ouen's or something  Theres a lot of information on e30tech about the ix, like a whole section devoted to it which is quite useful! Just a load of Yanks on there, but still informative. Definately gonna check the bushes all the way round, although...

Re: 325ix - my new daily

Very nice! :D You took the pictures i want to see to! :D Yeah I notices there's not that many pictures on the 'net of the underside of these cars. Over the weekend I'll get it on jack stands and take some proper pictures of the drivetrain, especially cause I still haven't properly inspected the tra...

325ix - my new daily

Hi, not really new to the forum but this is my first proper post, other stuff was just questions or wanted ads winkeye Got into e30's when i bought a 325i to turn into a rally car project (still on going). But a few days ago I stumbled across this pretty minty IX! I've wanted one for a while but I n...

Replied to my wanted ad about window seals very quickly, and posted them straight to me after i'd sent cash through paypal.

A pleasure to deal with, and a nice guy.

Dunno if this is still in the works, but assuming both engines are the same side of facelift (i.e. both pre, or both post) then it is totally plug and play.

Did the exactly same swap a few months ago and took us 14 hours :)

Diff speed sensor wheel

Hi all, Took a differential I just bought apart to replace internals with LSD, (its a 3.91 in a large casing) and bent the speed sensor wheel out of shape in the process. Does anyone know: a) if i can use the speed sensor wheel out of a small casing diff from a 1989 320i which I have, i.e. are there...

Hey, would you be able to post up some pictures of your manifold? Im planning this conversion next year and want to know what I'm up against. Hopefully gonna buy my first MIG welder soonish and start practising for when I have to make one of those! Although after all the manifolds/wire/CO2 i get thr...
