Re: Buggerd pinion bearing.

Well. .. .. not that this is perticularly interesting but i am so pleased its off i thought a post was in order ? It was none of the above as my face is still in tact = good and it certainly didnt slide off, one 4ft breaker bar help from the bro and a completely shagged bearing puller (twisted to fu...

Re: Buggerd pinion bearing.

Thats it bumhole its the inner pinion bearing, gonna get the pinion down to -30c or so then set the blow torch on the bearing while its under preasure from the bearing puller, will either explode/shatter in my face or slide off nicely. We shall see. I thought you might recognise those sound engineer...

Re: Buggerd pinion bearing.

Hi Brian, thanks for the contact, sry for not being clear in the opening post, i have read the posts on this and other forums on diff rebuilds and am aware of setting up the crown and pinion bearings correctly with shims while using engineers blue etc, while i wholeheartedly agree with what is said ...

Buggerd pinion bearing.

Hi, just a bit advice on swapping diff internals needed, i foolishly thought a crown wheel and pinion out an e36 3ltr m3 diff would fit into my e30 lsd. Major error , unfortuanatly i have already installed the bearings on the e36 pinion shaft and am unable to remove the e30 pinion inner bearing(whic...

Re: M50 block to far gone.

No worries Dan, from what i can tell i think its just the thickness thats different ?

Re: M50 block to far gone.

So it turns out the head bolts/gasket and bearing shells are the same so they should fit, just the block height in relation to the pistons. . . . . .

M50 block to far gone.

Hi, just after a bit of advise on a M50B25 block i am using for a B30 conversion. I took the block to the local machine shop this morning and was told the bores would need a considerate amount taken off (so much for a re-hone!) this isnt an option as i already have the standard size piston + rings f...

Re: M50/M52 potential?

Thanks for the info Dezzy, am i right in thinking there will be a marking on the piston and this will indicate if its oversized ? Didnt realise quite how expensive rings can be, the engine was bought for the amount im looking at spending on replacements 8O although the engine was a little . . . . . ...

Definitely a good point ShakeyC, although for some of us its not all about how much power you get, sometimes its where you get it

Re: M50/M52 potential?

Fitting a standard M54 is a bad move IMO, ive had a couple apart and they are not designed to be messed with, they are restricted in so many ways and were designed to reduce emissions, improve efficiency and only 'maintain' the performance and drivability of the M52. The only useful part is the cra...

Re: M50/M52 potential?

Not as simple/cheap as instaling an m52, will probably be knocking on the door of s50 money but for less power, for me its the lack of weight and availability that keeps drawing me back to the stroked m52, i thought i read a post on here a while ago about m54b30 cranks in a m52 but cant find it anyw...

Re: Remove rear subframe bushes ????

Hi everyone, first time post and bit of a neewbie but just thought i would throw my two cents in . I removed my subframe bushes yesterday after removing the beam, diff and arms as one which is suprisingly easy. I used a bearing/gear puller to push them through after heating them up slightly with a bl...
