Re: Single exhaust system.
I havent done that conversion myself (apart from on a turbo project) but from what it hear its far from ideal. The bigger bore means the velocity is much slower and makes less power and torque low down. Its a good bit louder to. Turbos prefer a big bore exhaust but on a N/A engine big bore makes mor...

Not seen one of those before. Not sure it's the best idea sitting right on top of a hot engine either. Not a fan of chargecoolers, 2 friends have written off engines due to them but that's another story. Why don't you go MAP based and ditch the MAF altogether? Any top mount type of intercooler isnt...

3.5" MAF conversion
Iv recently found that my supercharger air intake is a very important element for making power. Im using the standard 80mm (3") MAF on my 328i engine. I see in America they often do a 3.5" MAF conversion from a 540i and have proven decent results. Ill be getting a remap soon so I want to make it as ...

My 6psi supercharger is up an running now and giving the m52 a good boost in power across the rev range so Im happy with it. http://vid648.photobucket.com/albums/uu202/iancarteris/supercharger%20psi_zpscs3xvx4x.mp4 Id love to cool the charge but my options are very limited as theres very little spac...

Blowing MAF's on boost
I have recently installed a supercharger on my m52, a Dinan kit made around 1999. The kit came with a small box that controls the MAF called 'turbotronics 9'. http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu202/iancarteris/wiringdinantutbotronic2_zpsab20d678.jpg (On the Dinan unit) Yellow- Goes to yellow towar...

What dipstick do you use?
Iv been flying around with my m52 conversion for years now but I have never really sorted a proper dipstick setup. When I installed the conversion I had issues with leaking oil around the base of the dipstick tube but I sorted it with o-rings and some rubber pipe bits. Thats held together for a whil...

Re: M52 thermostat
The last stat I put in was an 88 degree one. It sits just in the middle as normal. I did however drill a hole in the top of it because I wanted it to run cooler as I track my m52. The hole is usually used as an aid when bleeding the system. It should be VERY small but mine is about 4-5mm. I wouldnt ...

Re: Dinan Supercharger Kit e36
A smaller pulley giving 9psi will be on the cards someday with a remap so I should closer to 350bhp possibly with a free flowing exhaust. Im at 227bhp ATM so Id imagine 9psi could add 100hp. Any idea how much pressure I can run without an intercooler?

True. I wonder does the fact that a turbocharger is connected to the exhaust manifold add more heat compared to the 'cold' side of the engine?maggspower wrote:Any turbo or supercharger is an air compressor.

Re: Dinan Supercharger Kit e36
I think they are only 6psi as standard. Dinan say that the kit was designed around reliability it only puts out low pressure.
Is it true that superchargers like this one don't add much heat to the intake temps?

You might have already mentioned this but how is the ducting around the rad/ fan/ valance opening? Also the center grill can either be open vented or closed. I stuck an m52 in my 316i and noticed the middle grill in front of the rad was solid. The 316i valance has only 1 opening so opening that up h...

I was in a similar way this year, very poor front end grip and lots of body roll. I was on budget suspension (Jom). After a bit of research it seemed the only way forward was to save up a few quid (skip messing about with trying spring combos like H&R/koni/bilstein etc) and splash out on a set of co...

A single 2.5" is a cheaper option. Is it the case that it would destroy torque in a naturally aspirated engine?

The perfect m52 Exhaust?
Iv just received a decent quote from Souhan.ie for a cat-back type exhaust fitting. As its a custom exhaust I could go for single 2.5" / twin 2", or other variations. I dont mind loosing some torque if it gets a better top end as this e30 is quickly becoming more of a track car than a road car. I ha...
