Crikey....that sounds 'orrible......certainly, my first move would be to spend 5 mins removing the rocker cover.....the cause SHOULD be obvious judging by that noise...........

Re: starter motor problems
It might still be worth checking the battery to see what voltage you're dipping down to when operating the starter. I had a problem on mine where, if I switched the ignition on and started the car straight away there would be no problems but if I didn't start it straight after switching on the ignit...

I'll keep my eye on this thread....I have the same immobiliser on my cabby.....has the additional keyhole and red light on the drivers door and also a red light below the boot lock. I have the key for mine and it lights up when the key is put in then taken out, then goes out when the key is put in f...

It won't get rid of them but it will disguise them.....but not as well as Autobalm imho.

I used to use Autoglym SRP and then the gold finish stuff and was always impressed with the results but I found the white dust a pain in the bum....I now use Bilt Hamber autobalm and I'm very impressed.

Re: Small Budget cleaning products
I have used the kit for a while now. The shampoo is very good, feels very slippery and lubricated but you need to use more than they suggest in the blurb. They say a 5ml teaspoon full per bucket....well, it must be a tiny bucket as I use a capfull per gallon with excellent results. The clay bar is a...

Yep, I agree......I got my cab back in Mayand didn't know when it had been changed so decided I would change it sooner rather than later.....didn't get any spare down time so I left it a while......then the water pump gave up the ghost so sort of forced my hand into changing it and, once I'd got the...

Bought a Nakamichi for a Merc I had, fantastic bit of kit. Unparalleled sound quality and no blingy lights. Subtle, restrained and does the job...the ultimate opposite of council!

You're not on your own!....I had exactly the same trouble when I first got my cab and it took me a couple of days to sort out what was wrong....as stated, you just need to make sure that the front bit of the roof folds back on itself towards the rear of the car, tuck the straps in and all is well......

Re: Small Budget cleaning products
The Bilt hamber auto balm that comes in the it has a cutting action in it Gareth :D Don't get confused between polish and waxes/LSP's. A polish DOES contain abrasives and will cut the surface back. Waxes and LSP's do not. Autobalm is an LSP. I use Autobalm and it is wonderful stuff. Certainly doesn...

Thanks. That's exactly what I did and I've got no leaks. On taking the old one off it was clear that no sealant had ever been used before and I had 2 pristine mating faces. Sealed perfectly.

Rocker cover gasket
Just about to do the valve clearances on my 2.5 M20.....got the new gasket.....The Haynes book of lies says to use an RTV sealant as well but the online manual doesn't mention it. Is a sealant neccesarry or is it just creating more work?
Thanks

Re: Flamin manifold stud !!!!
Trouble with them is if you DO snap one, its deffo game over. They are super toughened steel, and you'll melt many a drill but trying to drill it out! I snapped a screwfix easyout in a manifold stud on a Golf.....took the head off and took it a local engineering firm who spark eroded the stud and e...

Re: Wobbly rear view mirror on cabby
This isn't the one with the maplight in....Theres a round mount attached to the windscreen then the mirror stem fixes to this mount. The wobble is where the stem doesn't appear firm on the screen mount and I can't for the life of me see how it's fixed on or how to tighten it!

On any other make of car, maybe, but BMW design is such that the leads aren't subjected to that kind of electrical stress. Interesting....I'd like to know more. I may be wrong here but, will it make any difference if the car is lowered?. I thought the ARB acted like a big torsion spring so is only under load when there is a difference in height between the two wheels?

Engine oil leaks
I've got a fairly minor oil leak to the front of the engine. the front offside of the engine is wet........ I shall probably replace the crank/cam seals soon when I do the timing belt. Is there anywhere else towards the front that can cause oil leaks in this area? ....nearly forgot....its a 2.5 M20....

I can heartily recommend Auto balm....I have just used it on my cabby.....use a slightly damp applicator and use the tinyest amount....no powdery residue and a fantastic finish. Hi everyone
Hi, Just thought I'd show a piccie of my first ever BMW......a really nice, straight 325 manual cabriolet. I bought it earlier this week from a neighbour of my Brother in law who's had it for years......I had tried to sell it for him a couple of years ago on Ebay but it failed to meet the reserve so...
