Re: Hankook RS2s
Yeah I think the full name is Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 Well if that's the case, then they are an awful tyre (in the dry and hot conditions). They started to lose traction after 2 - 3 laps. I tried a range of tyre pressures from 22 up to 30 and it made little difference. They were shot after 2 races....

Re: Trackday pads
In my experience the Mintex FR4 pads are actually better than Pagids. They have lasted 8 track & race days and still going (the discs will wear out first). Really really impressed with them. Not cheap but as we are learning you generally get what you pay for,

Re: E36 328i vs E30 328i as a track car?
We were going to purchase an e36 328 as a race car. In the end we plumped for an e30 because it was cheaper up front to buy and at the time there wasn't relatively much available information on race e36's as opposed to e30's and less champs to race in. The e36 328 is a quick well balanced car and wo...

Not meaning to sound funny but if the 'race mechanic' told its a good idea to drill holes in the thermostat then why don't you ask him where to drill them? Fair point. I don't use him (he has a handful of race cars he takes care of and doesn't have capacity for another), although I've received quit...

Re: Thermostat drilled holes
Holes will help more when the car is stationary - this comes from a race mechanic who works on the best prepped e30 (non M3) I have seen. Additionally and independently another mechanic who races Formula Ford said exactly the same.
Anyway, where do I get a lower temp stat from?

Thermostat drilled holes
I need to replace the thermostat on the 325. I was extremely lucky yesterday in racing. The radiator (e36) started leaking from the crimps 1 and the cap just before scrutineering. One hour later and a mad dash to qualifying, the car was running with the thermostat out (which had stuck open) and a te...

I can report back. My first appearance at Cadwell was 1 year ago, and we ended up doing the 30 min qualifying and 3 laps of the race before the engine died. This time I completed both qualifying and the race. For information my laps times were around 6s quicker than 1 year ago. The car has much less...

Great replies chaps. :D It would be interesting to divulge (willing information) on what camber / toe settings you run given the car setup under different circumstances and tryes. I think I read somewhere (on here?) that -3 deg of camber and 26psi was optimal for R888's in dry conditions. Help me im...

Hi After a crap Oulton Park day on Saturday I am not driving the car again until the tyres are getting the grip and lack of abuse the deserve. The camber is not correct.
