Water pump issues
I'm trying to replace my water pump on my '88 325 touring and have got one from GSF which looks like the one in the parts diagram below: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c332/klu99apm/diag.jpg Trouble is my old pump only has one 'exit', and the new one has two. The GSF description for the one i hav...

I'm going to have a go at changing the cambelt on my 325 next week and am ordering the bits now. So far on the shopping list I have: Cambelt Waterpump (assume this comes with gasket?) Re: Towing capacity of E39 528?
I've found the answer to this on google search. If you take one away from the other it gives you the answer (Max vehicle weight - max train weight)(4180 - 2180) = 2000kg
Thanks

Towing capacity of E39 528?
I need to know what the towing capacity of my girlfriend's E39 is. One website suggests 1800kg but I'm confused by the plate under the bonnet. Does this mean the limit is 2180kg?

If anyone can help that would be great!

I'll get the wheels checked. They're 15" BBS so hopefully they're not buckled! I'll report back once I've been to the tyre fitters!!

Dash vibration!
My car is suffering from vibration at speeds above 60mph. The dash is vibrating a serious amount, so much that the CD player stops playing. It seems better at certain speeds (i.e. 85 is better than 80) and also seems dependent on road surface. Its been bad for a while but got a worse recently I thin...

Re: tighten nut on back of temp gauge - or sender?
My temp guage used to flick about in a crazy fashion. On mine it turned out to be a round connector under the throttle body, attached to the engine I think, which the temp sensor runs through. I just opened it up, cleaned up the rust and refitted. No more problems for over a year now.

Looking good. I'm planning on relocating my LPG filler to my newly fitted towbar (currently its mounted in the bumper, but is a crap style filler which needs an adaptor screwing in every time I fill up - and it can make getting the LPG filler nozzle off difficult at times). The bonus of having it lo...

Re: help me get the car through an mot please.
I agree with the above. Quite possible on your own. I did the brake lines on mine last Easter on my drive with the car supported on axle stands. If you buy a pipe flaring tool (around £20) you can make up the new lines with some Kunifer piping and appropriate unions very cheaply. While I was there...

Any want 2 door sports seats near Banbury (in a breakers)
Sorry if this is in the wrong section Just been to Smiths of Bloxham (Near Banbury) to get something for my touring and saw they have a 2 door e30 with sports seats. They seemed in very good condition and the mechanisms worked fine etc., except for a poor repair on the drivers bolster. (No rear head...

My 325 touring has been on LPG for around 30,000 miles now. Did a DIY install nearly 2 years ago, which was easy enough for a novice mechanic like myself (especially with a bit of electrical advice from Brianmoooore) On a motorway run, trying to cruise at 80mph I get 25mpg on LPG, and I used to get ...

My car does this too when the power steering fluid gets low (I have leaky hoses I think).
I think I'm right in saying you have to check the level with the engine running or it can be misleadinig.

Sounds like when you tried to take the rear subframe off before you got as far as where the main axle bushes get seized in their mounting under the rear seats. Once you've undone the big nuts (22mm) under the bushes, and released the holder by grinding off the hex bolts you should be able to remove ...

Thanks for the replies. I might use my left over Kunifer brake pipe even though the diameter is a bit thin. Is there any reason why it has to travel to the front of the car and then get vented? Why not vent near the fuel filter where it comes out? Its not like mine is ever going to get used anyway a...

I'm planning to replace all the brake pipes at the back of the car as they're all rusting and need doing before the MOT.
