Re: What got you into E30's?
My touring was free, ran it for 3 years as a first car (on and off), bought a ratty iS, dropped the M42 into my touring somewhere along the line. Then had it killed.
I want another E30, badly...

Re: induction kit on 318i---worth it?
The opposite in my experience. Every car I've driven with an induction kit has had piss poor throttle response and was really lethargic low down in the revs.Bristol_Jer wrote:You should get a bit more induction roar if that is what you're after, but not much, if any, power increase

Re: M43
You can run the M44 on OBD1 but it seems a bit too much of a faff to make it worth while over an M42?
I swear someone on here time ago had an M43B19tu (or whatever it's called) in an E30. It was a silver 2 door IIRC.

Re: The End
For the time being, a Peugeot 306 GTi6. I know I know, its French and FWD, but it was offered to me cheap and coincided with the tax running out on my now very very tired Touring. At least it's half-way entertaining to drive. I will be back in a BMW soon though (probably an E36 compact unless I can ...

The End
As of tomorrow I'll be bowing out of E30 ownership. It's been a good old slog, but I don't have the time or space to work on old cars any more. This place has been an absolute blessing, so thanks to everyone's advice and entertainment. I've got some bits and pieces I need to sell in the next few day...

There's a "how to" guide in the E30 wiki. Easy to fit, and well worth the short amount of time it takes to fit them.

How about building the 2.5 into a 2.7 or 2.8? Lots of torque then, and IMO the 12v lumps sound better than the 24v ones.

Cutting out on left hand bends. Eh!?
Evening all. My car occasionally cuts out on left hand bends. The symptoms are very similar to the DME relay fault that others have experienced (tachometer drops to zero, normally the car starts straight up again, but occasionally refuses to start for a few minutes after its cut out.) I replaced the...

I've got everything from the time I came to own it about 3 years ago, but nothing previous, only the radiator cap recall notification
My car was free though, and I'm planning on running it into the ground so it's of no bother at all. It keeps hanging on in there (just)

I think that was only the SA Evo2 325is that had ally panels, along with a BMW built 2.7 similar to the Alpina 2.7s. I might be wrong though.

Re: bmw 316 drifting?
Standard the 316and 316i's aren't really powerful enough to drift "properly". It's easy enough to get them sideways though. As far as tuning goes, don't bother with the 316i. Most would say don't bother with the 316 either, but if you're so inclined these can be made to produce fairly good power for...

Tatty Diamond Schwartz Met. paint and not cleaning it does the trick for me
I think John Deere does a matte black paint that's resistant to UV rays, which rattle can paint isn't, and will "chalk" off in time.

On the upside, I suppose a few pennies for beer is better than a rusting eyesore cluttering up the place.

ATE Power Discs not on ECP anymore?
I can't seem to find the ATE discs on ECP any more, am I just being a bit thick or have they stopped selling them? If it's the latter, is there anywhere else I can find them? Or are there some cost-effective alternatives available?
Cheers
