As i thought not simple
My primary concern is to reduce weight and increase feel whilst increasing steering speed for the moments when you get things all wrong.
Parking speed comfort is not a concern for me as the car rarely travels less than 70mph

Re:
I am interested in doing this conversion, but to be honest would like to do away with Power steering. Is this possible. How do you do it. It' for my E30 325i track car. Standard manifold and engine. May want to fit curly manifold later if one comes up cheap. I would like to get the turn a bit quicke...

Re: street tyre pressure 4 trackday ?
Tyre pressures for track work is a bit of a dark art. I asked lots of people for advice and the following is now what i use. I was told by Thorney Motorsport to bring a piece of chalk with you and make an x around the outside of the tyres where they cross at the point where the tread stops. Put in f...

Re: Which track tyres?
get two sets of tyres. You can fit a set in the boot of an E30. A set of R888's for dry and a set of T1rs for wets. Thats what i use. I bought 3 sets of wheels on ebay 15" each time and have not paid more than £60. One has R888 on BBS, 1 has t1rs on TSW's and the other is the BMW 5 spoke wheels with...

Re:
You have not removed all the tar on the floor. I would suggest you get this off as there is another 35 - 50kg's or weight you can get rid off. Took me 2 days with a heatgun and scraper. Did the floor, inside the doors, rear quarters, boot and underbonnet.

Re: advice on building a track car....
I built my car for £1500 initially. Then over the last year and a half i have slowly upgraded this and that and it now owes me £2500 I bought a rust free shell 325ise 3 door with some very minor rear end damage for £100 from a friend. Omp cage was £200 on ebay. Seats were £200 for a pair on ebay. Be...

Re: E30 Touring Suspension
I would go with no more than 40mm lowering as you go beyond this and you render the suspension useless as you will be using bump stops only. That is unless you are fitting a coil over system. I have just bought a spax adjustable set up non coilover. Lots of people don't rate the kit, but i was on a ...

Re: Motorsport Tuition/Race Days
Recently just did a day at Thruxton on their cart track for a stag doo. Was brilliant. Carts do 65mph and it pissed it down with rain. At no point in 3 hours driving was i facing the correct direction.
Was about £70 a person and had heats qualifying and a main race. There was 15 of us.

Re: Tow car
Those old 530's are brilliant cars. Is the best car our family has ever owned. A great workhorse. We had one and did 216,000 miles in it and it never broke down ever. We only replaced consumables e.g. oil, plugs, leeds, 5 exhausts, ball joints and brakes discs (lots) in our ownership. Now been sold ...

Re: Roll Cage Costs
I bought a second hand new if that makes sense omp bolt in cage from ebay for £250. I purchased the door bars from demon tweeks for £86. I then welded the cage in. For track days IMO i think a six point cage is sufficient and it's MSA, FIA approved and can be bought off the shelf for about £500. Aft...
