Re: Koni adjustable shock question
G, Shocks would not normally affect the ride height, that's really down to the springs. This will upset the true hanling if one side is lower than the other. Were the shocks stored vertically? If not did you prime them before fitting? They may need to settle out... get under the back and measure the...

Re: 325i sport engine
Kami, hope you don't think I'm being cheeky, not trying to be, but why do you want to take the engine and box out? TBH if you need to ask how to take the bonnet off and what tools to use then taking the engine out is going to be pretty tricky methinks. One to note - to take the box and engine out in...

Re: blue smoke????
If it's blue, as the guys say, it's burning oil! Pulling the plugs will tell you which cylinders are doing it. It can be fixed if you want to go to the trouble of doing the bottom end or as you say, it's ripe for an upgrade

If you want to maximise life, remember to get the right coolant for it, if it's an M20, due to the mixed metal engine it could do with certain anti corrosion additives etc.

Re: overheating
Cold bottom pipe means no circulation through the radiator, gurgling noises is the too high water pressure on the output side of the pump but there's no flow to release it, were the hot pipes really pressurised, hard to press? When you refill an E30 with water, you need to have the heater on full ho...

Re: What are the best rear bushes to fit?
Depends on what bushes you are talking about, the cottonreel bushes in the rear arms, rear beam bushes and the ARB bushes. As Rosco says it depends on what kind of ride you want. OEM bushe are softer and only get them from the Stealer....Aftermarket ones are not very good, even the ones from GSF and...

Re: Steering UJ question
Excellent Ozer, even better for the m3 rack conversion, need to get in touch with them. If you've got a vice sid, pretty easy I would reckon, do a quick guide hole for the bigger drill with an 1/8th part then a drill the size of the rivet at med speed and a drop of oil to look after the bit... job's...

Re: Steering UJ question
Sid, no problems with melting at all I wouldn't think, as oze mentions. If heat was a problem then the rubber joint would go well before an alloy one would, this is also the reason for the metal cup tho, it's a heat deflector. This is a straight swap for the rubber bush and supplied with bots to rep...

Re: big bore throttle body 318is
The bigger throttle body really needs to be done in conjuction with other upgrades to use the increased airflow - ECU remap and a branch manifold would be one way to gain from it and get a few extra horses. Jury's still out regarding any straight bolt-on gains on it's own from what I've heard....

Re: Steering UJ question
Found this here guys, it's a very tidy mod walkthrough for the e30-e36 m3 rack conversion for the UV but the principle would be the same for any of the mods I would think, just alter the size of the machined alloy spacer to suit and substitute the correct end. http://users.tpg.com.au/adtha/E36rackin...

If it passes the fan test, and you're not using it 8 out of 12 months then I would flush out the whole system - hose in the top of the block and the radiator as George says, till it runs clear. New thermostat and then replace the coolant for a long life type from BMW. Sediment can build up over long...

Re: RE: Is this a good price?
£350 doesn't sound too bad if he's good. Yep, would agree, if you could stretch to getting the valves out then best to, a quick clean up and guide check, cleaned up inlets and outlets and lap the valves back in, new stem seals (shld be in the head kit). Well worth the effort in the long run but it's...

Yup, check the fan's viscous coupling as Georger suggests, watch those finger/hands when you do it tho!!
Are you getting hot air through the heater? If so, keep you're windows down and on full blower and hot until you can get the coupling replaced if you need to drive it at all...

It does connect to the body, there is a bit of metal on the outside of the switch that should touch the body at the hole. Check you are getting power to the wire at the back by running a bit of wire from the terminal on the back of the switch and earth it to the body and see if the light comes on. i...

Re: Knocking From Front Of Car
Jack it up and have a pry bar under the wishbone and lever up, you should see if there's movement in the roll bar bush. Poly bushes are great to tighten up the roll a little in cornering , if that's what you want then go for it.

Yeah...check the wheel studs first for sure.... if you turn the steering lock to lock , at the extreme edge of the lock do you hear the ticking? This ticking may be the relief valve in the pump, but not to worry, they usually go very slowly and if you don't feel a strong pulse at full lock through t...

if it's the ball/cup in the back of the mirror housing where it is moving then it's non serviceable and then the whole mirror needs to be replaced, you can epoxy it if you never need to adjust once it's been set for you.

It should pull up as long as you have the linkage disconnected and the lugs lined up with the notches in the mount on the box, it should be turn anticlockwise till it stops. Do watch your chin though as it can take quite a pull, it's tight in there. You can tap the cup round a bit more with screwdri...

Anti roll bar bushes.....Steering rack bushes....Rear front wishbone bushes, it may sound bit silly but how does the knock actully sound, metal to metal knocking, and when do you get it? Do you feel it through the steering?
