Which petrol

Hello mate, I remember reading somewhere that some of the higher octane unleaded has more sulphur in it which is bad for the M20 engine. I think it is best to run your e30 on standard unleaded most of the time, but it wouldn't do any harm to put the odd tank of Optimax (or whatever) in your tank! I ...

Fuel

There not great on fuel mate, but bloody good fun.

Your probably looking at 20-25 round town, and about 35 on the motorway. Remeber there 6 cylinder engines, and make a sweet sound.

I try to keep my fuel consumption down by trying to be a little light footed, but i can't resist it most times!!!

170

Hey Turbo-brown, Yeh, sorry mate. Your right, a 10 year old 325i engine is faster than a brand new 2.0 170bhp Ford engine. What?? Figures in car handbooks are never right, if they where my 6 cylinder 23166cc would have a top speed of 125mph, IT DOESN't!! Its about 1mph faster, ha, ha LOL No arguing,...

And i'm a beemer lover.

Humble pie!

I'm really sorry fellas, i know your right. The e30 is a good solid motor, the problem is 'Which old beemer do you go for??' I have a choice now of another 325 (which might i add has little difference in performance to the 323) or a 735?? From my previous experience the fuel consumption on the 7 ser...

e30! I'm sick of it. Sorry!

In the past i've owned the following: 2 * 320i's 1 * 325i 1 * 316 1* 730i The best one was the 730i! These cars are reliable, 'BUT' they are no sports car. The Essex boys can put as many spoilers, induction kits, 2 tone metallic paint, fancy plugs, funny sticky bits, but the humble e30 is no perform...

ARRGGHH!

I've recently put on a K+N type air filter on my 323, I now regret it, cos I completely destroyed the old air box in the process. Does anybody know where i can get one from??

Hello mate,

I had the same problem on my old 316, I know it's annoying but I ran mine like this for 2 years with no probs. I think the Weber carb is the way forward!

Ticking

You can run the engine with the rocker off, might get oil everywhere though! I have just done my clearances and my 323 still ticks slightly. I think it's just general engine ware mate! I don't know wether its a good idea to put thicker oil in M20's i've known some to do it with good results i.e slig...

Am i poisoning myself? ha

Hello all,

I got in my 1985 323i this morning after it had been standing in the freezing cold (Kent) for a week, turned the key and she started first time as always, but when i put the heater on, the car filled with fumes??? She's never done this before, any ideas??

cheers,

John
