Re: Classic Mercedes...HELP!

Low-E30, thanks for the reply, I will try them. The other suggestions listed above I've already tried to no avail.

The issue is I believe according to the owner, only 250 vehicles made, so body spares are very rare.

Regards,
Steve.

Classic Mercedes...HELP!

Can anyone direct me to a site/person/etc that could assist in finding door rubbers for a 1969 Mercedes 250c? This belongs to a friend who has kept it in sterling condition, except that the doors are no longer closing correctly. I've tried contacts in the States, but they cannot assist in this matte...

Demise of e30 327i

So, a very sad story. No idea how the accident happened, but end result saw me cut out of the car due to the Armco raii Ing had intruded into the driver,s side door ripping the recaro seat off its base, but luckily for me staying in one piece absorbing most of the impact. Tow truck operator who atte...

The front and rear chrome window insert material for the E30. Anyone know if its still available?

Tried all of the windscreen suppliers here in Oz, but no luck. :(

Check the plug that goes into the AFM on top of the filter housing. Recently had a problem with mine not idling and this was the problem.

Re: Aircon idle speed not working

Brian, yes the ICV is set up to work and will maintain idle speed when all electricals are turned on. Haven't tried the 2nd gear test but I will. Will. OK, looks like I have to do the testing the hard way but it will not be very soon. We are 2 hours south of Sydney and it continually amazes me how m...

Re: Aircon idle speed not working

HTH, Aircon works fine, new compressor, receiver/dryer and gas....loads of cold air coming out, but loads up the engine because the idle-up is not being triggered. I own a auto mechanical business, so will be simple to fix when I know what to look for, hence the questions to Will and Brian who have ...

Re: Aircon idle speed not working

Hi Will, A great combination, 325i running gear and the 327 stroke. Beautiful tourque curve that allows you to pull away in 5th from 1200rmp if you choose to do so. I have 3 BM's including a e36 coupe (red of course) and a e46 330ci CAB, but my favourite by far is the E30. Yes, already attended to t...

Re: Aircon idle speed not working

Lots of mods. 325i Head, ported and polished, 325i cam, pistons, blah, blah, blah. Intake manifold is the 325i, but still has the 7th injector for cold start and the idle control is original. The ECU has been chipped on a rolling road, so not sure exactly what it is. I cannot see any box sitting on ...

Re: Aircon idle speed not working

Definately (was) a 325e in the beginning, but the engine has seen the Alpina mods, so a big difference in performance. Sorry about the bum steer.

The ecu is the original one the car was born with, so let me know what to check and I will have a look.

I have fitted the below cup holders on both doors. Tooling around at 1500rpms in top...foot down and it pulls away effortlessly...steep long winding hills where you are still accelerating in 5th when you breast the top.

Is your issue just that the switch doesn't work, or is it that the wiring point doesn't work? If its the switch, any 12 volt switch (normally closed position) will do the job. If its the wiring point on your cruise control module you can use the brake circuit to achieve the same result. Just wire yo...

Re: Oil consumption

I have found after 10+ years of ownership of e30 327i that oil use is somewhat related to the speed the car is driven at and the weight of oil that is used. Generally I will use about 1/2 a litre in 10,000kms. If the oil is say 5-40 synth it will use more than 15-50 synth over the same milage period...

Re: oil pipe on side of engine?

It is very difficult. What you need to do is loosen the bolts off on the inlet plennum so that it can be raised. This may give you enough room to lift it and remove the pipe. The tricky bit is getting the pipe back in place. The best way is to compress the spring with 3 small cable ties so it is not...
