Cough, 160, BS, Cough! The only way I think you can get an m42 to that level is a 1.9litre bottom end, custom management and some tweeking on the cam timing. I never 'got' BBTB's. I have a "Longlife" custom made stainless steel exhaust on my 318iS and it's really good. They've done away with the front box, just got a middle and back box with 2" tailpipe which means it's not too noisy at all. It made a pretty good difference to performance too.

In terms of the diff, it depends if it's an LSD or not. For an LSD use Castrol SAF-XJ, for an open diff, normal EP90 gear oil should be fine.

Dunno about the gearbox, check out the BMW owners manual, it'll tell you in there. If you havent got it I'll dig mine out later and have a look.

I'm planning to buy some springs to improve the handling of my 318is - it seems that H&R and Eibach are two of the best products available.

Has anyone had experience of either of these products - which would you recommend? I have some uprated dampers to fit with the uprated springs.
