can i just hyjack this thread a little, is it possible to build a 2.7 or 2.8 using the 325i block with just the eta crank? or do you need the ETA block as well - I have seen cranks for sale on ebay but cant work out if there is a combination that works with a 325i head, block, pistons ETA crank and ...

hey Card do you think more people would run e30 325s if they relaxed the regs on carbs itbs and displacement etc or can you more or less do what you want tpo the M20 in the regs?

Hi Kim yeah its getting used - and abused haha! I'm reasonably confident the head gasket hasnt gone ( although i had thought of that as the problem!) right ive got a 260 box but its the same box as I've seen advertised as being from "sport" cars on ebay etc. This is not a dogleg first box the part number seems to match up to other info on the net as it being from a 325i sport - or have i just got a standard 325i gearbox?
