Re: Fixed price engine swaps / conversions

Thanks for the fast replies guys.

I am based around Reading, Berkshire and its currently a not so healthy 1.8is :( so I would either be looking to have another is put in or a 2.5 I guess.

How much roughly do you guys charge, and would you be able to source the engine or would I need to provide one?

Fixed price engine swaps / conversions

Hi, I remember from quite a while back that there was a guy, or a couple of guys that were offering engine swaps for a fixed price. For the life of me I cant remember the zoners name and searching hasnt turned up anything. I was wondering if anyone knew who this person is, if they are still doing it...

Re: Off to the ring tomorrow :D

Thanks :) The car is awesome, but I cant claim any credit for it.

I bought it as it stands a few weeks back. I do have some small changes in the pipeline but thought I would enjoy it for a bit.

Re: 316i m40 to m42 - What do I need?

Thanks for the replys, ill take a much better look into it now and update when ive made a decision :) . Although I fear a lot of the decision is going to be based on being able to get a good engine and extras within a reasonable distance of where I live. Is the following everything I need then? Engi...

Re: Help please!!! - ignition problem I think.

Hmm, well I think I was doing it right. Im going to give it another go tomorrow and try to get to the breakers to get another lock (that should be a good indicator if I am doing it right).

I will update tomorrow :)

Thanks guys

Re: Help please!!! - ignition problem I think.

Im having real trouble getting the lock out using the pin / pliars. The pin appears to be going in about the same length as the key, maybe 2 / 3 mm less. Does anyone know how far it should be going in? Im using a long pin and ive put quite a bit of stress / hammered / sworn at it to see if it goes i...

Re: Help please!!! - ignition problem I think.

Thanks, will give that a go, I went down to the breakers and they were closed anyway, so I cant get a replacement till Monday at the earliest now. Were you able to fix your problem or was it just a case of replacement?

I have no idea of the inner workings of the key barrel lol.

Thanks

Stu.

Help please!!! - ignition problem I think.

Hi Guys, Quite simply, I cant turn my car on :( Heres what happened: I got back late last night, turned the engine off, but the key wouldnt turn all the way, seemed to be getting stuck in the first ignition position so I was unable to take the key out. The car still started but just wouldnt turn all...

Re: Retrofitting Tweeters

The wires should already be running through the car, the tweeter wires are usually hidden behind the standard mirror blanks. The other end of the wires also need to be connected up, these are behind the footwell speakers. This post helped when I was doing mine: http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?nam...

Re: Standard speaker sizes

There is a screw in both of the kick panels which needs to be undone, and then on the passenger side you will need to unscrew the bonnet release aswell. It might be easier for you to drop the glove box to get access (open the glove box and push out the 2 plastic pins holding the straps on) When this...

Re:

Good cable isnt a rip off, audiophiles generally recommend that 10% of the value of your system should be spent on cables as they do make a difference to sound quality. I was lucky though, I got mine for free when I bought my speakers :)
