Have you checked and cleaned the fuel pressure regulator / idle air stabilizer / oxygen sensor /intake air temp sensor / main fuel filter and checked for carbon deposits on the fuel injectors.

Give em all a good clean and inspection

I saw a E30 motor recently that had a E36 M50 2.5 24valve conversion. 220BHP!!? Interesting conversion as it wasl still a 2.5 Is this a fairly straight forward swap???? I take it you would have to change the prop and diff also to E36. Or have the E36 prop cut & welded to fit E30 diff?? Cheers Mak :c...

:cool: Check the Article on the Z3 short shift its very easy to do.

It does make a big big difference,I went for the 1.9 Z3 shift aparently the 2.8 Z3 is even shorter.

Karans old little M42 4 pot ROCKS, such a difference from the 1.8i M40 and if you hav'nt got a Z short shift on yet... . get one ordered ,even feels like a new sports. It wants to rev and rev....holds its own too..... had an off the lights with an Audi ...

Sorted it now guys :cool: Apologies for not following up my thread ..been busy covered in grime fiddiling under the car. The knob in the parts gave me E36 flat exhaust mounts.....no wonder I could"nt suss it out. Engine turns over and nearly fires up but I aint risking it without the manifold fitted...

:cool: I can highly recommend Eibachs I replaced standard springs with eibach pro kit and brand new bilsteins standard shocks (Europarts....Cheap as chips)....bring on the positive sports handling you can go stiffer but you will compromise the ride. M40 which oil is best.

Hi there

What oil would you recommend for a sweet M40 318i 140k with cam shaft changed 44k ago.

Also M40 318i with 107k cam really noisy.

I intend to flush the engines and change the oil spray bars
