Touring load cover mount bracket - Right side, and black plastic rear left carpet channel

Hi Touring breakers I am looking to find a right hand Touring load cover bracket in grey as mine recently broke. It's the spring loaded post that is secured to the rear right speaker panel by 2 set screws into which the load cover pivots into place. I have all the other clips and brackets - it's jus...

Re: rear hub removal

I took the trailing arms off and, with the circlip removed, found a short piece of scaffolding was just the right diameter to act as a drift. The hole in the back of the trailing arm keeps the business end in place while you bash the other end of the scaffolding. Others have used a large socket inst...

Re: E30 as a daily driver?.

Go for it. A well looked after one will last for years. If you are reasonably handy with the spanners you will have a car that you can maintain and fix for yourself; most parts are readily available (I needed a wheel bearing in a hurry last Sunday and was able to get a new one - though not a BMW man...

245k miles on the clock and 465 miles one one tank

Not going to be the best ever on either count, but after a bank holiday getting it ready for the MOT I am really chuffed with my 91 325 Touring at the mo. With new front shocks, a wheel bearing, and a cam belt swap - and I've still got the oil under the fingernails to prove I did it, I took it easy ...

Front Strut Bump stops

Getting sick of the bouncy front end (and before the MOT is due) I've finally stripped out my first front strut, slotted in a new B4 into my 325's strut and wonder how the new rubber bump stop sits. I've oriented the plastic sleeve the same way that it came off but as the original bump stops were no...

Re: Leaky touring help

You can take a peek at the sunroof tray if you unclip the rear door rubber at the top of the aperture and remove the rear grab handles and then gently peel back the lining fabric along the top of the door opening on the wet side of the car and prise the liner down a little. This allows you to spot i...

I picked up a very clean 885 cylinder head at the scrappy that had been involved in a cambelt fail and there are a couple of bent valves and a snapped rocker arm. Would this be a scrap head or would a simple replace the duff bits rebuild sort it? Has anyone recovered from a snapped cambelt by just r...

Re: m20 temp guage quarter......?

My 325i sits at just above 1/4 on the temp gauge all day long, it creeps up a couple of needle widths in stationary traffic on a hot day but stays there until I get moving again. This it has done in the 107k miles since I've had it and returns 32mpg overall. I would hazard a guess yours is perfectly...

Re: Rear bearing complete assembly??

Replacing a rear wheel bearing is a whole lot easier with the trailing arm off the car. But, once you've undone the axle nut, the hub just a press fit into the bearing and the bearing is just a press fit into the trailing arm. And all can be done with the minimum of tools: Spring clip pliers; a hamm...

+1 for the advice to make sure the fill hole can be opened before you drain it.

Mine was so siezed I rounded the hex socket then smashed the case trying to knock it round using a screwdriver as a chisel. And that was with the diff off the car.

I cannot afford to buy new alloy ones and will be miffed if I have to replace them for the next MOT though.

Both aesthetically and driving wise, fitting BMW original 15" BBS alloys and 205/55/15 Toyo Proxes T1-Rs was best thing I ever did for my ”aPoverty Spec”a 325 Touring. That, and rear heads restraints make it look classy, even when parked. Unless your original wheels and tyres are an odd size, and as...

Another common problem is inside the wiper motor itself where the seal around the wiper shaft inside the rear wiper motor gearbox fails and allows the washer water into the gears, from where it just dribbles into the tailgate.

With everything else you have removed, and if you've already removed the 32mm drive shaft nuts, why not leave the diff in place and undo the output flange bolts to allow them to drop and then knock the splined stubs back into the hubs and remove the shafts completely. If you've a sunroof, water running onto the off-side sunroof tray will drain forwards to a hole that is visible with the roof retracted and out of the sill behind the front wheel. Stunning. I agree with Gazm3 on reverting to the chrome grill. Always wanted an autobox - it must be lovely with a 2.5 to stir it along. An acquired taste I know, but I think grey leather really suits the E30 and your seats look to be in good condition. But I'd retain the Alpinas if it were mine.

Medium case diff requires 1.7L IIRC and make sure you can remove the filler plug before draining it. Best advice I ever took heed of; I bought a hex bit to do this job, but the gap between the diff and fuel tank prevented it being used on the fill plug. I rounded the inner hex socket and sheared al...
