Looks like it's been over 2 years since I've posted an update! You missed nothing, as nothing has really progressed since the last post and probably won't for another few years (part time college to blame for that...) Anyway, this happened a long time ago in 2012... http://i577.photobucket.com/album...

Re: 540/740 brakes with hartge wheels
I don't think these are brembo though, they look similar to the E30 calipers just much larger. They are still a single piston design

540/740 brakes with hartge wheels
Does anyone know if the 540/740 calipers front and rear fit under 16" hartge splits (or borbet b for that matter)?
Are there any cross section cut it's available to download and check?

Re:
I've read about the m3 box fitting, another I've seen mentioned is the gs6-37bz from the 330 e46. Km not sure what is involved in fitting this or cost associated with the swap.
I imagine the m3 box is easy enough but difficult and probably expensive to find?

Re: 6 speed gearbox?
I can't imagine those are an easy box to get a hold of, haven't seen many m3's being broken lately (in Ireland anyway). I've read a bit about e46 320 6spd being possible and newer car with 6spd but I can't just find anything concrete regarding clutch and flywheel. I already have an m20 lightened fly...

6 speed gearbox?
Anyone got any info on fitting a 6spd box to the m52b28 and whats involved? I keep wishing I had a 6th gear in the daily and think it would be nice in the touring also.

Re: Back in an E30 318iS
Thanks guys. It needs a lot of little bits sorting out and issues to be dealt with that previous owners neglected or made aballs of. It's killing me at the min but it put a smile on my face every time I drive it, except the lose disconnected rattle from the front but I'll sort that soon I hope!

Re: Clunk from rear end (diff)
Got the car on a friends ramp last weekend, one of the top diff bolts was a little lose, the other drive shaft bolts also started coming lose but everything else is was fine. Except the backlash in the diff, it was clearly never set when the diff was rebuilt  Will I be doing harm driving it unt...

Re: 318iS front shocks
I knew I had 2x pair of socks on the shed, one set are Bilstein (b4 I think) the other pair are Sachs. They are a bit shorter, would they be to short for a small drop (eibach springs, not sure if drop) or will it be fine? Shorter better? http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/Jozi_E30/Mobile%20Upl...

Re: 318iS front shocks
Are there any alternatives to bilstein? A pair of b6 socks are the guts of 300 quid which I can't really afford right now.
I might out in some old b4 I have and not lower it until I can afford something better

318iS front shocks
One of my shocks is leaking and needs to be replaced and I'm wondering which brand of shocks to go for? I will be fitting a set of Eibach lowering springs while changing shocks. The springs came of my old e30 and had caused a sump or 2x to get bust, I didn't think the springs were that low to causes...

Clunk from rear end (diff)
Bought an iS recently which had a bit of a clunking nose when your coasting and then go onto the throttle, noticed it when shifting into 5th also today and maybe even when going from neutral to putting it in gear. I had the rear jacked up recently and the beam bushes look decent, I couldn't really s...

After 5+ years of not having an e30 on the road I finally gave in and got behind the wheel of another, this time the 2dr I've always wanted :D http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/Jozi_E30/E30%20318iS/2016%20-%2006%20-%2019/01.jpg I spotted this on Donedeal last recently in Bantry, Co. Re: Odometer not working
Could be as simple as an obvious cracked solder joint, could be a duff stepper motor, could be the American favourite of gears turned to jelly, or could be damage to the display from the last time the car was clocked. winkeye Apart from the cracked solder, the solution will be the same for the othe...

Odometer not working
Picked up a iS this morning, speedo and revs work fine but the odometer never budged on the 200+ mile trip. I've had a look at the rear of the cluster and it's a proper hack job with ever wire on the white plug having duct tape on them. Before I start re-soldering on a working plug, is my problem re...

I only recently labeled all the wires (maybe 5-6 weeks ago) and wrote down some notes detailing what needed to go where and made a lot more progress since then the previous months! Hardest part over I think, just soldering of plugs back on. Which brings me to my next question, is there anywhere othe...

It took awhile to go, 1-2hrs each time, all the time went into making sure I got the wiring all figured out and routed to the correct side and adding anything (fan, obc temp, hlww etc) to the loom so it can work on both sides. I think the engine loom with the 3x wires took 1-2 hrs today incl pulling...

Pulled the pair of wires for the gauges senders today and re-did them on their own with a new third wire added in for warning light. http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss215/Jozi_E30/E30%20Touring%20Restoration/2016%20-%2003%20-%2018/02_1.jpg And engine loom all taped up again with the extra wires b...

Not really made much progress, been working to much and not spending time at the touring since the summer. At some point last year I started extending all the wires running around the engine bay, I wanted to hide them as much as possible but not go to crazy. Using an old loom I extended all the wiri...
