Re: Safety of E30s
Dr fly, you seem possesed with the idea of putting a 330d engine into your e30, now you want all the safety features of amodern BMW An e30 will always be what it is, a 30 year old car which is now becoming a "hobby" car for most people. I'm all for modifactions and improvements but what are you actu...

Re: z3 m trailing arms
The ZM arms do fit, but they also widen the track. I can not recall specifics numbers of hand, but what i do recall is that on an e30 M3 and using an et25 you are limited to 8" wheels to clear the arch lip with ZM arms. Whats your arch clearance like now ? If the tyre is close to the arch lip now, w...

The investment in Northern Rock is not too bad ...at least we are getting a decent rate of return from the investment..not like the billions we lost when gordon sold the gold ($250/oz..then $1000 now) I agree about the gold, thats one investment the government should have hold on to, but in regards...

UK has got so much money it's unbelieveable Has it ?? As it stands the government keeps borrowing because it has nothing left in the bank. It has invested 3.3 billion in Afghanistan and Iraq to achive NOTHING. It should concentrate and invest on our own domestic concerns and problems before investi...

One thing that seems to have been swept under the carpet, is the fact that the public didn't actually vote for Gordon Brown to be Prime Minister. He just took the reigns and kept on cracking the whip. That's not been swept under the carpet at all. The public didn't vote for Tony Blair, John Major o...

Re: 200bhp for £1500???
There is a 30bhp gain to be found from a head and cam, cost depends on where you go to get it done. Expect to pay £1500 if you include NEW OE rockers, uprated valve springs etc with larger valves, have the head work done, and a suitable cam. Obviously the ECU will need adjusting, but the gain is ...

Depending on what you want it do, the price can quite easily get expensive when involved in motorsport. The S42 is a "motorsport" engineDave_M3 wrote:

Atoms are curerently 245bhp with out a supercharger, using a Honda V tec engine, 300bhp with a 'charger To actually think any road e30 could "nail" one is an amusing thought, do you actually belive it was being driven to its potential or even at 80% of what it can do ? Re: how to build a powerful 2.7? most powerful built?
A lot of club racers with m20 2.5 spend a substantial ammount on their engines , and a few I know of which run ITB's and mildly worked heads with a cam make 220bhp, from a 2.5. but thats doesn't come cheap. ITB's £1000 head work with cam kit and new rockers valves etc £1500 management £500 exh...

Re: Nitrous - anyone got it and what does it feel like?
there is a point to nitrous, it's INSTANT POWER through the complete rev rannge, not just peak power. the simplest exampple is as follows, a 325i 170/170 bhp/ft lb a well worked 2.7 about 210/210 bhp/ft lb same gearing same weight on a 1/4 mile, there will be maybe be a 0.5 second in it but add a 50...

DanThe , yes they do come at a price, but i would pay £300 for the solution and not spend my time messing with an m20 type gear box and bell housings or looking for an m20 box to fit with the right ratios just use the m50 gearbox from the e36 and pay the price for the diff ?? i'm all for new ideas...

agreed that its not the best box to use, it was just an example that it can be used with the right bell housing ( in racing/track use the dog leg has its advantages) anyway back to my original post which was the options of gear boxes available to work on the m50, getting the box to work is not a dra...
