Re: CV Joint dust covers
If you buy the right boot kit it will have the grease, caps, bands and boots. At least mine did, I also have a set from BMW dealer here that have the caps on already.

It's not easy to tell, I've a 4.1 with 180k miles on it, and there is a lot of play between the output flanges and when they engauge, but still I'm sure the diff would push on for 100k more. I only took it off to fit an lsd. If they've retained their oil and not been 'rebuilt' they seem to be a dura...

Check the instructions with the leads, you can normally remove one boot to install that sensor.

Re: rear subframe bushes
I used Powerflex in the rear beam of my last E30. I took the axle down and replaced the four training arm bushes also. I did not notice the ride been overly harsh afterwards, but I was running a mild enough bilstein streetline kit, so the car wasn't overly low or hard. I assume the Powerflex will be...

Timing Marks..
Well went to look at my timing as it was suggested that the sympthoms could be due to the belt been 'out a tooth', I found this, should the two marks align ( not mentioned in the manual ) http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr214/davidhunter213/23Mar11169-1.jpg now, the problem is, the o/t mark on th...

I would say your not firing on all 4 cyclinders when idle. Pull the leads 1 at a time and see if it's the case..

Thanks for your replys folks, the IAT is at least 1k ohm to low according to Bentley, though I think the problem is with my test method. I measured resistance and not volatge in both cases. In order to establish the correct pins I'll have to snap open the sealed cap. I'll replace the hose first and ...

Maybe so, but the hair dryer is less likely to melt anything!, no, I mean the temp sensor within the AFM itself, the reading is way off according to the bentley manual ( quoted for 20 deg. C ) but then the pinout does not correspong to my oown unit, with pins numbered 1,2,3 and 4. The one in the ben...

Hi folks, found a large cut in the pipe that conects the AFM to the throttle body, I've ordered a new one, so if this is not my running problem, it certainly is a problem to rectify. I have bench tested the AFM while it was off the car and found the potentiometer seems to work okay. My temp sensor o...

Also, if none of the above are the case, do check the spray bar if you didn't renew it during your top end build. Mine was loose at the bulkhead and caused the rocker lobes to wear down past adjusting.

M20B25....running issues, still
As publicised in previous threads, I am having some running issues after an engine swap. The car would not stay running unless held at part throttle when cold, the car would idle when warm. Warm or cold, the car will not rev, it seems to be hitting a soft cut at between 1500-2000rpm as if the ecu is...

No I have not, though I drove the car 5 miles home from the borrowed shed after the install?, the ECU and loom were left untouched, engine came from a '90 325i...I'll try this, but she was left running for while as I needed to bleed the cooling system. The TPS came untouched from the blown unit, I h...

Hi Gooner, mine's an 88 325i touring, it's not the presure switch I'm wondering about, but the level sensor for the check control display, I suppose if should be about the sump somewhere?

Check computer oil level warning....
Had to drive into a rough farm yard today and through some long grass. My oil level warning light is on on the check panel, yet the level is fine and the pressure switch goes out normally after cranking. I assume I've damaged the sensor, does anyone know it's location and I'll have a gander tomorrow...

If it's Castrol Hypoy LS will be fine but some of the miller oils or B17B are for motorosport use and will break down a lot lore quickly etc, etc.....so, if you are sure it's not an LSD, change the oil.
