Black plastic vs painted bumpers

Are facelift base model black plastic bumpers mechanically different to body coloured, or are they just the same thing unpainted?

Looking at a base model and wondering if I can just get the bumpers painted.

Thanks.

So how do I tell if its genuine? The only marking on the casting is '3904', stamped on one of the machined faces.

Thing about this cylinder is, the last owner says it's only 10 months old. It looks pretty new as well :?

Thanks for the part number Brian, i'll be picking up one of those repair kits

Clutch Master Cylinder Innards

Right, this might be a bit difficult to explain without pictures, but here goes: I have a problem with my clutch control system which I've traced to the master cylinder (M42 box btw). basically it seems to want to displace the fluid up the filler pipe rather than moving the slave. Rather than just b...

Sounds likely doesn't it? What about the fact that it still displaces fluid in the bottle though? The bias of flow can't be equal to that and the slave can it?

Re: Another M52'd iS problem - clutch control this time...

I was told by a mechanic at my local garage (not E30 specialist) that they always bleed clutch systems with filler cap off, and that it shouldnt make any difference. I saw that the cap was not o-ring'd or pressure sealed in any way, so I assumed this was true? If the system was dependant on the seal...

Another M52'd iS problem - clutch control this time...

Before I start on another problem, I have to thank DanThe for his help with the cooling system issues. Got rid of the air in the end by seperating the components and bleeding them one at a time. Thanks for the tip mate! Right, I'll tell the whole story here for clarity, and summarise the points at t...

Re: M52 crank case pressure woes

Ok, by taking right-handers very slowly on the way home the squeaking has pretty much stopped, and I don't seem to have lost much more oil. Perhaps it is just the lack of a bung? Any ideas as to where to get one? (no dealers near me, and the closest ones won't deliver)

Re: M52 crank case pressure woes

Thanks Dan, I'll take a look. Just checked the oil level, and it doesn't seem to have dropped anywhere near as much as the level of leakage I witnessed lead me to believe. My dad came up with the idea that it might only be a leak when cornering - meaning the oil moves to one side and escapes. Sounds...

M52 crank case pressure woes

Right, after sorting the air lock I had, I took the car on a 10 mile drive. Pretty close to my destination I noticed a fairly loud intermittant squeeking noise coming from under the centre of the car near to my seat, so box/prop area. I pulled over and noticed a regular amount of oil dripping from u...

Re: Bizarre M52 cooling system problem

You were absolutely right Dan, this evening I put the front up on stands. It took around 3.5 - 4 litres. Ran it for a while with header cap and bleed valve off, after the second attempt I managed to get the heaters to blow hot when revving the engine, leaving it to idle caused them to cool off again...

Re: Bizarre M52 cooling system problem

I had the car facing up my driveway, with a slight incline. The bleed screw was out of the rad. Are you suggesting I need to fill the header tank over half way to get enough coolant into the block?

@ Turk - Stat has been out and tested, also it only fits one way round.

Re: Bizarre M52 cooling system problem

An update: after completely draining the system and reassembling, it will only take 1 litre of water. I switch the engine on, and the level remains the same. Pulled the bottom hose off the rad, and water comes out, so id hazard a guess that the problem is between this thin bottom hose and the block....

Re: Bizarre M52 cooling system problem

Good idea, I can just about get my hand around the back to trace the path of the lower one [which you cant see much of], and it seems ok. the top one isn't obviously caught by anything either. I didnt remove them, but just to confirm they are in the right places, the bottom hose goes to a connection...

True, but the radiator being blocked wouldn't cause the heaters to blow cold would it?

What i'm thinking atm is some kind of obstruction in the block.

M52 ecu remap for M50 inlet manifold

my car is running an m52b28 with an m50 inlet, the ecu is standard e36 328. I've heard that a remap will unleash some more power with the less restrictive manifold - which makes sense. Is it possible to install a new EPROM in the same manner as most e30 ecus, or does it have a hard installed chip fo...

A lack of metal behind that bodykit was my main concern.
