Convertible - water in sills?
So my outer sills are starting to go, especially on the passenger side (in fact there is now a hole in that side after the MoT but it looks like someone tried lifting the car by it and crushed it slightly). Anyway, I anticipate taking it to a bodyshop to get the sills done after I have sorted everyt...

Re: Brake Pipe Replacement
I contacted the manufacturer (McGard) and they are going to send me the tools they use to remove them when this happens as long as I agree to sent them back when finished, can't say fairer than that. Will update on what they send and how it works when they arrive.

Re: E30 LEATHER INTERIOR RE UPHOLSTEREY
I had mine done (albeit 10 years ago) by Chequers Auto Upholstery in Bearsted. It was £1200 for the seats, door cards, backs of seats and the side bits in the back of the convertible, and the steering wheel was re-trimmed as well.

Re: Brake Pipe Replacement
Now i know this was going to be a long slow job BUT I was not expecting it to start so badly. Loosened the wheel nuts to remove rear wheels and struggled - got all of them off but the last Locking wheel nut has fallen to pieces. It is an old McGard nut and the moulding on the outside that the ...

Brake Pipe Replacement
So the damn E30 has failed the MOT on Brake pipes - front to rear and both sides at the rear. Is there a wiki on replacing this as I can't find one. Can it be done without dropping subframe? Is there a way to do it with running a different route to the original? help! Local Garages want far too much...

Re: Boot lock jammed - cant open boot
OK, managed to get the boot open - it involved taking out the number plate light to the right of the boot lock, spraying WD40 in the general direction of the lock and trying again - this didn't free it, but by inserting a bent wire coat hanger into the number plate light hole I was able to hook the ...

Have carried on spraying WD-40 - still no luck but will continue to the weeked and then attack it. Unfortunately my Bentley manual is also in the boot! Boot lock jammed - cant open boot
My boot is refusing to unlock, central locking won't shift it and the key, previously would not turn but after copious amounts of wd-40 it now turns 45 degrees and then refuses to go further. It triggers central locking but boot remains locked. Lock is oriented so the key slot is vertical. It's a co...

It may just be black plastic, the holder is in the back but not visible from the front so maybe previous owner has blanked it although as the light actually works seems a bit strange. Wonder what the MOT man will make of it? May take a photo at the weekend.

Re: Tracing battery drain...
Brian - That is brilliant, having spent the weekend connecting and disconnecting a meter to try to work out the drain and having to faff about as when I connect the meter the electric arial kicks in giving a surge so can't set the meter to 200mA without doing some playing with wires - hadn't occured...

Re:
Do you mean the pad wear light? mine had the bulb taken out, but my dash has a blanking plate where the ABS light should be. Seems although I have new pad wear sensors the light would remain on if a bulb was put in (assume some previous owner/garage cut the cable somewhere). So I have put the ABS li...

Re: Handbrake cable woes
My handbrake never quite worked properly on one side - looked at it a number of times as did a couple of garages and never managed to find the issue. It was only last year when I changed the shoes and was about to start getting the cable out and fit a new one that I noticed that whenever it had been...

Re: refurbed interior
I had a cream leather retrim on my cab, I think it works on a dark car but probably not on a lighter car. BTW - the trim including wheel and door cards (along with bolster fixing) was under £1200 but that was 7 years ago now! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/demondaz/DSCF0006.jpg http://i2.photob...

Re: MOT - Failure but could be worse!
OK, so after fixing everything (or so I thought) when I took it for the retest the handbrake failed still. The handbrake has never quite been right since I had the car and has been adjusted at each MOT by garages to get it through but this time it wouldn't work even after I changed the shoes and fre...

OK, had another look at the handbrake at the weekend and managed to loosen the nut as it was hard against the square locator. NOW PASSED : MOT - Failure but could be worse!
Have had my E30 325 Convertible off the road for 15 months now, stored in my garage as I have not needed it or had the time to fix a few issues it had, spent the last couple of weeks getting it ready for MoT by fixing lighting issues (rear lights not working, replacing number plate lights as they we...

Handbrake Adjuster Nut Jammed
I have followed the instructions on the forum (mainly posted by Brian) to adjust the parking brake but failed at the first hurdle! It seems when the brakes have been adjusted previously one of the nuts at the handbrake end (inside the car) has been wound on completely, both were at a similar point b...

I only replaced 1, as I ran out of time but the other one seems OK, I have the pipe to replace it as soon as I get another 30 minutes.
Thanks for the response though, I was concerned I had pulled it off without realising!

Fuel Pipe Change - Whats this one for?
Yesterday I replaced the fuel pipe that leads to the injector rail on my 325 Cab, as it has perished and had started throwing petrol all over the place. When I was fitting the new pipe I found another pipe (looks like rubber fuel pipe) connected to a metal pipe that seems to enter the car by the fro...
