Re: Modern diesel engine conversion
I also like the idea of a 330D lump under the bonnet of an E30 but I think it would be just too complicated to fit... Wiring would be a nightmare!

Re: Full engine rebuild 325i
I sold a 200BHP Rover 620 Ti (2.0 Turbo) for £300 before buying my E30... At the time I was fed up with trying to figure out the power delivery problems associated with the turbo but with hindsight, £500 probably would have sorted the car out completely. The Rover even had an LSD as standard althoug...

Re: Full engine rebuild 325i
So, maybe £1500 for recon engine and £2000 for the Rotrex Plus mapping and the other bits I need to do. This is looking like £5000! Too much to spend on this car I think. It's a shame, but whatever way I look at this, it ends with me selling the car for what I can get and buying another car with hig...

Re: Full engine rebuild 325i
That's pretty cheap mate, although I would still be swapping one used engine for another used engine, and would be way short of 250BHP minimum.Being sensible, the M50 swap will probably see you at about £700+ on the road.

Re: Full engine rebuild 325i
I don't wanna spend more than £3500 total on the following: A reliable 250BHP minimum to last 100k miles. Limited Slip Diff Rear arch and valence respray EBC brake discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and Goodridge lines. Is it do-able for that sort of money without being a mechanic? I've got workshop access t...

Yeah but what is the total cost for a 24V swap? Surely more than a rebuild with all the labour and extra parts?

Full engine rebuild 325i
Well since the head cracked, or warped or did whatever it did to leak coolant into the oil, the car has been off the road. I decided that I would either: 1. -Sell the car and cut my losses, but I couldn't quite bear that. 2. -Fix the head and wait for the next problem to arise. 3. -Follow my mate's ...

Re: 330d engine into an E30?
£2000 for a new engine! I thought it'd be double that. I'll have a look into it. Not sure how much a full recon on my current engine would cost in comparison to buying a new V8 lump. Too much to think about tonight!
Thanks for your help guys.

I'll have to read some back issues of PPC Magazine cause I'm sure there was some V8 info in there. Any idea what V8 you get for what kind of money? Just want to look at all the options.Chevy V8 is not expensive engine at all gives you power, torque, economny, looks and sound in one package

Re: 330d engine into an E30?
The only feasable way of doing it is to buy a running oil burner, strip it and transplant everything over from clocks, looms, and all the electrical gubbins into the E30 next to it plus a few thousand in labour and misc parts which no doubt adds up to be false economy when you work it out in miles ...

330d engine into an E30?
I've been searching everywhere but I can't find anyone who has done a 330d engine into an E30. I'm going away for 6 months serving Queen and country overseas and will come back with some cash saved up. I was in two minds about keeping my E30 since she needs some work to bring her up to standard, and...

Either way then, my K&N induction choice was a bad one!
So today's lessons are either:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
or
You get what you pay for.

Have you considered an M50 swap? Will probably cost you less than an engine rebuild and will definitely be cheaper than a turbo conversion. Yeah, a mate of mine is always saying I should do an engine swap and the M50 would be the obvious choice even though the power is only about 20 BHP more. Altho...

K&N cone Induction Kit - The truth!
I've had my 325i E30 over a year now and it's fitted with a K&N 57i induction kit. I fitted it instead of a new air filter thinking I would get more power and to be honest, I haven't noticed the difference because it was fitted along with other mods... (FYI, I also fitted H&R suspension kit, H&R ARB...

Cheers Gizze, was searching for some Diff advice last month and decided a 3.64 would be the best compromise for my 325i SE daily driver. Some good points there.
Just need to locate a good condition one though... Although, there's always a brand new Quaife!

Why not get it highly polished by a professional polishing company... I'm thinking of getting mine polished o...
