i agree with globulator about the bypassing of some pipes instead of blocking them. i had this exact same situation on a peugeot mi16 engine. it ran a bar hotter on the gauge with pipes blocked. with the correct bypass pipe fitted the temp was much more stable and a bar lower. worth investigating if...

have you got the answer to this as its quite simple to find out if you haven't. measure the distance from the donut to the engine mounts (or to the position that you have placed the 20mm spacer at if not the mounts themselves ie if youve put it on the subframe mounts), and from the donut to the gear...

smooth, i also agree with johnna. and perhaps despite the disclaimer this could be backed up by the e30 moderators?? maybe they could verify that the posts and information that smooth send to the police was actually written on here and isnt edited. also if ip's are logged supply these too. not a lot...
