Replace main and fuel pump relays? Cheap.
AFM problems - check out the threads on this. U tube video on overhaul. Try replacement/second hand or known working afm from another car?

Re: My 318iS cutting out randomly!

I had this on an M40 as part of a more general bad running, kangarooing, stalling problem. I was told that replacing the main and fuel pump realys was the solution to the stalling bit - I did this among other things ( like replacing the afm, replacing the crack position sensor and the TPS) and all p...

Re: afm problems

Had the same prob with an M40 recently. It was eventually the afm - there is a video on u yube about taking afms apart and re-positioning the potentiometer wiper arm to get a better connection. I had a go at this - no joy. If/when trying another - make damned sure you get an exact replacement with s...

318i central locking - nearly there! Help on the last bit?

Hi, I've been through all the central locking advice I can find on here and have done the red/black wire job, cleaned multi-pins both sides, replaced lock barrel and L piece etc. etc. on my 4 doors 3i8i. I'm nearly there with getting it all fully working properly ( I think) but the passenger side do...

Re: hmm. Not good

Plug tip test - after running properly for a while after full warm up

Black, dark - bad(too rich or oil?)
White,light - bad (too lean)
Lightish brown - good.

Something like this I recall? - but pics would be good too!

1990 318i AFM

Hi, I'm desperately trying to find out the correct BMW and Bosch part numbers for getting a replacement AFM for my 318i.

I've tried the realOEM website but cant seem to find the afm in any diagrams. Can anyone point the way or to a better website?

Thanks

Hi Brian, could you give me hints and tips on adjusting the TPS? How to adjust, where it is, how to get at it? If there is another thread could you point to it. Is it an easy job? Thanks

Still have slight flat spots/hesitancies when accelerating up to about 1500 revs in 1st and/or 2nd gear. After that its all very smooth in other gears up to full speed/power.
