Agree with rix, the Kumho can be a money pit, both in terms of the cash some will spend to be fastest, and also driving standards, which were, when I last marshalled at one of their races - how shall I put this? - variable. Hi, I thought I'd post a quick reply on Dans behalf, as I doubt he's been on the forum for months. Re: Show me your front tow strap
Speaking as a marshal, I wouldn't want to be standing in line with the tow line (usually a wire rope) when the head of the bolt snaps off, if it's as per DanThe's install. With the greatest respect, the bracket is clearly designed to be mounted horizontally, i.e. above or below (or even on the side ...

Honestly cant see any future in it for you. M20B25 with 'bolt on' mods, i.e. cam, big bore throttle body, remap would probably give 190bhp max. Get more radical and I reckon you can get up to 275 bhp (at least thats what we're aiming at), but at vast expense (I reckon £4 - 5000) if you're starting f...

I haven't had a VAT thing from machine mart for a year or so now, normally make good use of them when they do come though :D Got one through the post this morning, so perhaps you'll get one too. Thanks. I'll start having a look around to see what's available as price will be a consideration but I don't want to use some old bit of tat. The reality is that I will simply have to find the softest compound 195 or 205/50x15's that I can. There's a chap, who's often in my class, and runs a really...

The spacing of the M3 bodies is the same as the M20, but you'll need to get an inlet manifold made up to mate the flanges on the bodies to the ports. Doing much the same thing ourselves for our race engine, unless we suddenly find another 2K, in which case we'll get some Jenveys!! Kim Edit: Pleeeaaa...

Is that the one with gas turbine to keep the turbo spooling? V8 turbo Moggy sounds fun 8O  Yes that's the one. It really creates a draught when it's spooling up on the startline. Never saw the Morris personally, but apparently it was something else! Driven to and from meetings, too, with a...

How a bout an M52B20 with bolt on mods for more Torque than a m42 Engine swap will put you straight into 'Libre' I'm afraid, up against full blown spaceframed racers. :x There has been a lot of discussion about creating an 'engine swapped, standard bodyshell' type class, but the wheels move slowly ...

It's the taking part that counts.... If E30 is the choice, I'd go for a 318iS, if that's not quick enough to be fun, sell the lump on and fit an M52B28. I've seen a couple of those used for hillclimbs, no idea how competitive they are, but they looked to be DANGEROUS :) Fixed that for you. Kim No n...

Do it for a laugh and you might pick up a few 'scalps' along the way. To be competitive you have to be in a hot hatch in up to 2 litre, or an Evo or similar in over 2 litre. We're also building a 325, primarily for circuit racing but may be run in Mod Prod on hillclimbs / sprints, but not expecting ...

Be careful when modifying a 'certified' cage. If you alter the design of (say) a Safety Devices cage (even if this makes the cage stronger) the certification will no longer be valid. Thats the exact problem that we've got. Going 5 stud for us isn't really an option, as everything else is set up for 4 stud, including the uber expensive and lightweight split rim wheels. We need to get hold of a complete left hand rear corner with the correct (larger) bearing and 4 stud drive flang...

Re: M20b20 - bore 84mm ?
Both the 2 litre block and the 2.5 litre block are identical, except for bore size. Not strictly true. The core used in casting the B20 is different to that used in the B25, so the casting thickness for the cylinder is thicker in the B25. Having said that, I've overbored a B20 block to 84mm with no ...

Remember peeps, before investing heavily in 17" rims, that BTCC is moving away from 17" rims, starting this year (2011 season) and will be 100% off them by 2013, when all cars will (should) be to NGTC regs, running 18" rims. Brian,
Ref your problem with the Ledas:
In case you're not aware, GAZ offer a rebuild service on Ledas - in my experience very quick turnaround and not expensive. They did the fronts on my sons 205 and they will be doing all 4 on the E30 when money permits.

The theory is that the narrower tyre on a given rim will have slightly better sidewall stiffness and therefore better turn in and less tendancy to 'go off' due to heat generated by sidewall flex. Toyo have a detailed setup sheet which has been put up on here at least twice, so I wont do it again, bu...
