Are they Alpina reps? I don't know if they need spiggot rings but i spent months trying to track down a vibration and it turned out i had the wrong sized spiggot rings... Basically, the wheel isnt centered on the hub.

Also, as someone already said, check your new tyres are actually round.

Re: Engine Problem - driving me nuts!

Just read your post again...

Are you saying if you disconnect the AFM you can then drive on WOT without it cutting at 4000rpm?

Re: Engine Problem - driving me nuts!

Mine used to do exactly the same thing except it was intermitent. However, when it was doing it, it would always cut out at 4000 rpm as well and always on WOT. If i backed off again slightly it would pull fine again?? One thing i did notice though was that the tacho didn't just die and fall back to ...

Last time i changed my oil on my 325, well first time actually, i found the thread was knackered in the sump and the plug was sealed with instant gasket stuff. After finding out what a pain in the arse it was to change the sump, and not being able to find anyone local willing to do a helicoil on it,...

I've also heard someone one here saying that the o rings in the crankcase to intake manifold pipe can perish causing an air leak. Likewise with something around brake servo/master cylinder i think. However, i have no experience myself with either of these solutions.

Re: Off to Germany sat morning to pick up my Ebay hardtop

I've gotta drive to Zell am See (sp?) in Austria in a 13.5m long coach tomorrow. Would be good fun but i've got the worst cold ever! You lot are right though the roads on the continent are soooo buch better than ours. Its quite amusing watching the Germans fly past on the autobahn when i'm limited t...

Re:

I don't think it was neccessarily the "new" battery that did it, i think it was just cleaning the earthing points and ensuring all major connections were good and tight...

I went out again in it again at lunch time and i'm definitely not imagining this, it really does feel so much better!!

Re:

Well thought i'd share it with everyone, it was just so annoying and such an easy fix!

The thing is with EFI cars is that lots of people (including myself) just assume any running issue is a sensor/ wiring/ ECU problem. Often just getting the basics right is the answer.

My car went for an MOT and needed welding in the floor, a big patch on the outer sill, patch on the end of the sill inside the rear wheelarch and a part of the same wheelarch reconstructing, along with the brake lines above the tank/ subframe, and the chap did it all for 105 quid!! I was well happy,...

Lumpy idle + juddering - FIXED

Along with many other people on this site, i have been pulling my hair out trying to fix the lumpy idle and slight hesitation on my 325i. It only really occured when warm, and under very light throttle but it was starting to really piss me off, after all this is supposed to be the finest of german a...

Thanks Brian, i understand you're a bit of a legend on here... I'm hoping that it is just the horn ring, but as the steerings also got stiffer i think it may be something a little more envolved. I think i might just change the column as you say- is it just the 2 headless shear bolts at the top of th...

Steering stiff and squeeking!?

Hi all, Just got myself another 325 and i've got a few problems with it already... The main one at the minute is the steering. Basically some theiving scum decided they wanted it- ruined the door lock, smashed window and broken shear bolt on the steering lock. I've not replaced the shear bolt but i ...
