Good point on the metric vs imperial, you had me running to the tool box to check! Unfortunately I'd used the right size which means it not a simple case of re-adjust using the right size! I'm gonna wield some spanners at it over the bank holiday weekend and just check everything again (not that I'm...

Ooops, sorry it's been a month since I'd done them and I'd forgotten how I'd done it...my bad! Yeah thinking back, I adjusted the valve clearances when the rockers where on the back of the lobe. I borrowed my mate to keep an eye on my work as it was the first time I'd attempted adjusting them. As an...

Engine was stone cold and adjustments were made to 0.25mm Rotate crankshaft to bring the first rocker (closest to the dizzy cap) of cylinder 1 to be on the peak of it's camshaft lobe. Loosened locking nut, rotated the eccentric till feel a slight drag on the feeler gauge. Carefully tighten locking n...

Not your standard noisy tappets problem...I think?!
Right then, I’m stumped. The M20 was sounding more and more like a bag of spanners so I thought I'd give it the once over. I did the simple things first like checking the oil levels, made sure the oil feed pipe wasn’t blocked, checked to see if any on the injectors were noisier than the others and e...

Did try filing the terminals on the new cells to create a bit of key for the solder but made no difference. I admit that I should have checked the voltage on the old cells but I was trying to sort it out before heading off me holidays so was a little too hasty. I also should have used cells with the...

Going Heath Robinson on an SI Board...
I'm looking to sort out my SI Board when it comes to replacing the lithium cells so I can get the service indicator back to normal. Soldering the new cells in are proving a problem as solder doesn't stick to the battery terminals. So to solve the problem I'm looking to use a battery holder to hold t...

Second time buying bits from Rob and got myself a new door and some trim for the e30. The trim espcially useful as my fence had jumped out at my car a few weeks back!
I'm hoping one day to stop needing bits for the car but until then, there's a handy bloke with a plenty of bits and knowledge. Cheers

Spot on help with the replacement exhuast. Whole system for £30 and even helped me rip the old one off and chuck the new one on. Nice work and a man who knows his stuff. If it wasn't for being completely skint I would have probably headed home with a half a tonne of bits for the e30 with the amoun...

Cheers for the advice gents and special metion goes to Breadbin for the spot on recommendation with leaving the nut on loose, should save a battering to the face with the steering wheel! I'll get my housemate in to help with the job and should hopefully pop it off without breaking the steering lock....

How hard should one hoy?
Just a quick one for ya. I'm gonna do a quick bit of repair work on my steering wheel and I'm not having much luck hoying it off. Am I missing something like Locking nuts or something else cos the damn nut seems like it's welded on! I haven't started swinging off it yet but before I start putting al...

Chucking my two penneth into this one. I've only had my E30 325 Touring for a couple of months now but really enjoying hoying around in it! I had a 20VT Fiat Coupe which was silly fast for peanuts but cost a bomb to fix (£400 for a cambelt is a little harsh). Going old skool with an E30 is ace. It...

3T-E30 Alarm playing silly buggers
Evening all. I've got my first real headache of a problem and it's the alarm. Anyone had any experience with a 3T-E30 Alarm. This one on my touring has been put on after market by a dealer 11 years ago by the previous owner. I've had the car for a month and the alarm has taken to immobilising the ca...

Re: York visit 04-11-07
Cheers for the welcome gents. I've gone from a five 5 to a 6 pot and I'm lovin' going through tunnels. I'll probably be floating around on the forums soaking up the information here more than chipping in with suggestions. Mind you if you ever feel the need to own a Fiat Coupe, I've had a bit of expe...

Re: York visit 04-11-07
As I've recently swapped from my Fiat Coupe to something a little more reliable (fingers crossed) I'm game for pitching up in the new touring. Gives me enough time to clean up the E30 and as York is spitting distance from Harrogate it would be rude not to. 1. essfourteen (Nick) 2. touringandy 3. Row...
