E36 diffential ratios
I have heard that the housing for an M3 evo diff is unique, for the prop from the 6 spd box. The stock gear ratio is 3.23:1, how easy is it to up the ratio to 3.43:1 or 3.64:1 say, and is there any other bmws that contain such gearset ratios that would be compatible?

Jamie one day you will knowingly quote some cr@p you've read somewhere, some poor sod will mistakenly think you're an expert engine builder or something (because that's how you come across!), take your advice as gospel and destroy their engine. as far as your running-in technique goes, it mig...

Prefacelift E36 alarm siren
Not sure if this is the right place to post but, my 1994 316i E36 had the siren deactivated i.e. turned off with the key so that it doesn't make any sound. I have now lost said key, is it easy to find a replacement or are the keys uniques to each car? Failing that, would it be easy to fit a louder a...

S14 vs N47
Both engines are light four pots so would handle well, 204 bhp stock from the diesel remappable to 240 bhp with no other mods so slightly ahead of an S14 stock and when chipped.
S14:
Higher reving
Potential for more power modified / as a 2.5
N47:
More torque (400nm stock)

E36 Rear Wishbone
Basically my balljoint/bush at either end of the e36 rear lower control arm has been busted as its worn out or broke when adjusting the now un-seized arm.
Is it easy to fit a replacement balljoint near the hub, or do you need a press?
What about the bushing near the diff. carrier?

Kandy colours are great for show cars and pampered cars, it is a little soft for an everyday car as it scratches really easy so I have heard.

I am really confused, you don't even have a 318iS yet but you still recommend what other people say (obviously they will say zone chip on the zone board), not saying its good/bad as I don't have a clue as I havn't used it - neither have you, so don't be a parrot please.maxfield wrote:Zone chip.

+1 to the above, the main dealer didnt even know that the e36 didnt have a check engine light so feck knows if 90% even know what an e30 is let alone worked on one, as apparently it is the word that most move on after a few years to "better" indy garages. Just that the majority of the main dealers d...
