Re: Genuine Alpina E30 Quandry
For what it's worth, I agree that the car should be saved. These 2.7s are so damn rare now, efforts should be made to restore them all :) I'm currently going through a labour of love and I am completely restoring my Tech 1 C2 2.7 from the ground up. It's taking a long time and I don't expect to see ...

Re: Recommend me a system! (sub 2k)
That's excellent advice thanks - you're also not alone, I've had many people advise me on the merits of buying 2nd hand, as long as they get serviced again.

Re: Recommend me a system! (sub 2k)
Hey - that's really helpful stuff, thanks a lot.
I'm in North London for what it's worth.
Is the E30 susceptible to vibration and rattles then? I understand soundproofing can seriously increase weight?
Don't mind used amps actually, quite a good idea.

Restoring an Alpina C2 2.7 - brake kit and suspension??
I'm restoring my car as best I can back to factory standard, at the very least all components except the brakes and suspension. Although I want the car as original as possible, I would like to take advantage of modern brakes and suspension. Brakes must fit within the 17" wheels without any modificat...

Recommend me a system! (sub 2k)
Maybe vague, perhaps even answered a thousand times already, but I did go back 10 pages of threads and found nothing. I'm in the process of restoring a car and, well, I have an opportunity to fit something from the ground up. My budget is about 2k and I'd like to include a method of plugging in my i...

From what I understand, the 325i Sport seats never have been Recaros - but these are from the same seat yes.

Re: My C2 2.7 together with my other trackcar
Thank you all for the kind and cruel compliments :D Nice!! So who was driving what?? Bit of both really, I drove the GT3 there and I drove the C2 back. Wife finds the C2 more comforting - the GT3 scares her. I'm a big fan of the GT3 RS, but even then, the GT3 is a fantastic car, I bet you love that ...

My C2 2.7 together with my other trackcar
What an amazing day. Turned out beautiful so I jumped out of bed this morning and gave the E30 some real proper detailing. Few hours later, the sky was still pretty so just before the sun kissed the horizon I popped the two cars out, courtesy of my sidekick driver, the wife, for a few much needed ph...

Re:
re the brakes; bear in mind that early E30 brakes were crap to begin with - an overhaul might not be enough if you're used to modern brakes (mine are scary, but I know they're working correctly and anyway I'm used to them). I know of someone who was doing a E28 brake upgrade on one, which if I'm no...

Re:
Have already spoken to Cooks Ferry in N London, but they say they do not do bodywork. Is there not a one stop shop ANYWHERE in London that are experts with E30's? I'm almost thinking about sending the car to Sytners to get it all done there, but no doubt that would be ridiculously expensive, but als...

Thanks all. Forgot to mention, huge thanks from the guys on here - I was going to look at the one sold by a dealer in Hillingdon at the moment. I believe that's the one that's been on eBay - like 5 times now...glad I've avoided now as it looks ropey. This one I'd seen was the 3rd car I'd found and d...

C2 2.7 purchased - now what?
Hey all. I've finally found a Tech 1 C2 2.7 in Scotland and drove it back to London yesterday after a years hunt for one. Car is brilliant and for a 21 year old motor, drives real nice and is a lot of fun so far. For me, it's a third car and I'm looking at restoring it to it's glory. Although the bo...

holy crap that's a hell of a lot of negatives right there :) Well i'll appreciate the detective work and you saved me a lot of hassle - won't even go to look at this. Further research my end has indicated that the place is run by wide-boys. Actually, I'm just really gutted I missed out on this: http...

Re: About to go see an Alpina C2 2.7
Hey, did a search everywhere but there's scare information to be found - doesn't seem to be a much sold car. I'm going to look at one of these soon and would much appreciate any advice on any points to look for. I'm assuming it's going to need a couple thousand to bring it to tip top condition, but...

Yes it is the hillingdon one.
Link to it directly here
I did expect to pay a little to get it to good condition, won't mind throwing a few grand at it, but is this a dead horse??

So can I assume most repairs are relatively affordable on them? Are there any unique components specific to the 2.7?Rosc0PColtrane wrote:If and when the head cracks, you put a new one on!!
