The issue you had is the transponder chip. You are right, it could be a dead chip. But the only way to know is scanning both the DME and the EWS for fault codes. The EWS will give you a very detailed error while the DME will only pass a basic error from the EWS. Or just have EWS removed from your DM...

Some of the DTM cars are tweaked to 380.. The rebuild time on them however is after every race. Not too wise to do that these days seeing as parts are quite rare. This motor only really has a life of 5000ks before rebuild.
