Re: Oil surge - baffled sump ?
I was getting the dreaded red light syndrome when using slicks at Silverstone GP Track...... proper scary putting the clutch in half way thru a corner, eh 8O ! I wasn't keen on pulling the sump off so tried overfilling it (OK, temporary fix I know .... but these engines are cheap enough to take risk...

Changing Rockers with engine in car ?
On a E30 325i is it possible to extract the rocker shafts, to fix broken rockers, with the engine still in the car. I have all the pulleys and the belt off and the shafts are ready to come out ..... but it doesn't look that easy to get a drift in there to drive them out ?? Any help/advice would be a...

Yeah, one exhaust and two inlet .... all next to one another around number 3 cylinder. There were some quite big pieces spread around a bit so one broken one may have taken the other two out ? I only had a quick look before covering it up in disgust/disappointment  ........ I presume that to re...

Crikey, I thought I was the only one with this problem ....... I've had poly bushes in all the suspension and have done 4 track days ....... car handled really well until the end of a whole day at Cadwell Park when the rear tried to steer on the flat out left before Charlies going up the hill .........

325i Broken Rockers
I was at Castle Combe Rally day (like a track day) yesterday with my E30 325i ..... after 2 laps it dropped onto 5 cylinders ..... turned out to be broken rockers ..... there were 3 broken though I wonder whether just one broke and the bits and pieces may have taken out the other 2 ?? The engine is ...

Re:
Hi,
Do you have any of these spacers left ?
Is the E36 rack bolt spacing on this spacer/adapter the same as for a Z3 rack .... ie, does the same spacer do for both racks ?
Does Ian have any of the modified hydraulic hoses available ?

Hello Dan 318-IS,
Yes, it would help if you can advise the part numbers for the bolts.
And thanks for the response.

E30 325i ..... Mintex 1155 fronts and 1144 rears for track days ..... easy on rotors, long lasting, zero fade, v. good feel and extremely effective .

Re: GEARBOX UPGRADE ??
Hiya Northloop, Thanks for your advice ........ not sure I agree with all of it and wonder if you are getting sidetracked by thinking I want a "low" ratio gearbox ....... you mention this twice in your post above ....... I am interested in a "close" ratio option. I have plans for a fairly powerful 2...

Re:
No-one seems to be mentioning the spacer used in the steering column that replaces the standard rubber joint ? I believe that the gap between the steering column and the new Z3 (and E36) rack shaft is increased and a longer spacer is needed for the splines to sit in the right place. There was a pic ...

That's right Kos ..... the BTB system is not polished. I used my freshly fitted BTB 6 branch at Cadwell Park today. My car is an E30 325i with an oldish engine that is standard and probably tired, in keeping with 150,000 miles. It has a chip and a panel air filter. The BTB system as supplied by the boys at Evo-S is beautifully engineered and fitted exac...

Slicks on the 325 are soooooooo good. I have rally suspension and the car sits too high so it lifts the inside wheel all the way around the high speed sweepers on the full Silverstone GP track ..... you're not aware of it until you feel it hit the deck again .... the wheel has slowed down so does a ...

Re: Anyone used a quaife ATB diff ?
In my experience of using the quaife diff ...... you get some spin on the inside wheel before it grabs or locks. This is unsatisfactory and I don't believe it can be modified to eliminate this unfortunate trait. Of course a well sorted car with effective suspension will do this less than a poorly pr...

Re: LIGHTWEIGHT EXHAUST 325i ??
If you can weld ..... try getting a second front box (with entry and exit pipes straight through) and replace the big heavy (NOT straight through) rear box with it. Use the straps and mounting system off the old box (suitably cut and modified and welded on) to mount the new system. I did this and it...

GEARBOX UPGRADE ??
Hello, I am after some help/advice about which gearbox and what options are available for my BMW. I would like to know what type of OE gearboxes will fit my E30 325i track day car. Do all BMW models of this era have the same bellhousing patterns/starter positioning/clutch slave mounting and are ther...

Hiya .... I am running a 325i track day car with a 4.45 LSD. The ratio is excellent and being very standard in the engine, it doesn't run out of revs at Donington(even with quite low profile slicks). The thought of running with an open diff scares the bejesus out of me 8O ..... the car gets very goo...

This short shift conversion is a must do ..... it transforms the change. Of course you can do really fast changes with it if that's what you're into ..... but you can still do a nice normal change that will not damage anything ..... its just that you don't have to move the lever so far. I did the ch...

Hiya All ......... for your general information ......... I did a track day at Donington today in my E30 325i and the car passed the test which was a 98 decibel "drive by" test. Perhaps because it is a rally car, they had noted my car as one that looked like it might be noisy and tested it several t...
