Gear linkage touching driveshaft
On the gearbox end of the driveshaft on my 1990 325i (manual box). There is a steel disc about 6" in diameter. The bolts for the guibo go through it. Anyway, everytime i select 5th gear, the linkage rubs on this disk. Does anyone know what this disk is for? Is it on the wrong way around and supposed...

This scared the crap out of me today!
I was driving along the dual carriageway earlier today, As my friend and i were laughing and commenting on how the wipers were struggling to pull themselves down against the air resistance of me doing exactly what the speed limit was? They decided to stop!! I couldn't see a f*****g thing. My mate ha...

When i'm taking a right hand bend or going around roundabouts my steering pump or rack is making a groaning sound, it's fine on left hand bends. Almost like a relief valve blowing off, Or pump cavitation. Any ideas??

Re: All set for the summer!!
For future reference, just tell them your car has a LSD so it can't go on the rollers (it will give an inaccurate reading and possibly damage the rollers). They have to use the old skool brake test box. That's what i always do.

Re: Fuel guage probs.
Mine used to do that. A sharp tap on the cluster above the fuel guage used to send it back to where it should be, which indicated the problem was in the cluster. I removed the cluster and found the earth wire nut on the back of the fuel guage was missing, the temp guage nut was rusty and loose too. ...

Where's the best place to get a new driveshaft doughnut. When i drive in slow traffic the car lurches through the drivetrain. I'm guessing the doughnut's had it's chips.

For £500 quid you can buy a decent MIG welder teach yourself to weld. It's not hard. Then charge all your mates to weld their cars which would eventually pay for the welder. Therefore the welding on yours cost you nothing.

I was told it would cost about as much to line bore the head and fit shell bearings, as it would for a new casting. Think i've found a new casting for £320 from America still a lot of cash though.

Does anyone know where i can source a good s/hand head for a 1990 325i. Or a good quality new head casting?
mine has been pressure tested and skimmed, but has picked up slightly on the cam bearings. would use the head if i wasn't fitting a new cam.
