Hi,
I replaced the whole part 1, got it from GSF think was about £14. Be careful when changing, search front shock and heed the warnings.

I get between 33 - 37 mpg out of mine on a 30 mile commute. I give mine a regular service, oil, filters & plugs. Thermostat on mine is at about 11 o'clock like on yours.

I drive a 318 M40. Recently while driving into town the temperature gauge went sky high upto the red zone, so I popped all the heating switches to max in the cabin, to bring the dial back to normal. Drove to GSF and got a new thermostat, an 88 or 92? I don't know an 88 thanks. Went home fitted it an...

Yeah mine were cut, so I just soldered them back together and covered them in heatshrink. The wires have a trace line on them I just had a look at which matched which.

Tool Hire
Hi
Can anyone help me. I am looking at replacing my rear subframe bushes, has anyone done this in situ. I don't fancy forking out £250 for the tool to do this, has anyone got it or anything similar that I could possibly hire off them?

Re: setting service lights
There are two indications on the SI display, one for an inspection (back lit) and the "count down" service lights. To reset them you need to make a short jumper wire. I used a 2 Amp in line fuse too - you don't want to risk anything in the engine controls! See the pic for the pins to connect - I tip...

Maybe water has got there through time, condensation and lack of use. You could replace the oil strainer and pan, start the car and get more ATF out or just replace with new ATF the amount is insignificant that is left in the torque converter. A regular change at a later date might be a good idea li...

I think they are 47Nm front end of front axle carrier to body.
Have a look here:

It has some good info about torque settings, maintenance and repairs.

I would drain, change the filter and replace with nice new ATF. As the car has been sitting for a while a full fluid change wouldn't go amiss.

I did mine just after Christmas, on the drive, on axle stands. Took about a week and that was waiting for the parts to arrive, thanks zimmerbimmer. Front to rear brake line was less than a £10 delivered. Also did all the flexi-pipes as well, you would have to hands of a 5 year old to get around th...

It took me a day to replace mine with a GSF one, good fit no problems. Only five bolts hold it on, might as well been 500 with 20 years worth of corrosion on them! Follow the guide posted above its spot on.

Re: As before (coolant system)
Before you start, make sure you can open and close the air vent screw on the top of the thermostat housing. Drain the rad by pulling off the bottom hose or unscrewing the drain valve. Good idea to take the top hose and vent hose off as well, pull out the two fixings for the top of the fan shroud, un...

I tried bleeding it with the front of the car as high as possible like up a steep drive, opened the bleed screw on top of the radiator loads of air came out, while cold. Then topped up more into the expansion tank, turned the heaters to fully hot and interior fan on 4, let the car run for 10-15mins ...
