Re: 518i informaton req

I have had a 518i and the extra fuel economy isn't worth the frustration of the lack of acceleration. i drove a 535i Sport for a while which is great fun but a pig on fuel. Currently drive a 94 520i which is not bad but due to the fact that it doesn't have much torque you need to rev it a lot to get...

I have been thinking about satin paint for a while. Wasn't thinking about black though, something a bit different. Here is a link to a paint manufacturer that specialises in satin an flat paints.

If you have the time / money to get the alpinas refurbed and find centercaps I would go that route.

If not I would go for the Schnitzers.

If you are worried about the extra weight over the front axle then add a carbon bonnet. The weight you will be removing will be higher up than the engine so will help lower the centre of gravity!

I know that I am comitting blasphemy, but these prices do make the M3's rival the 190E Cosworth look mighty tempting. i know this link isn't a prime example but seriously how much would you pay for a similar M3?

The problem with fibreglassing an area that big it that the fibreglass tends to collapse into the hole unless you use some sort of reinforcement. AKA CHICKEN WIRE!

I would buy an outer panel and fabricate an inner one. Wouldn't go near Fiberglass if you plan to keep it for a while.

You could cause a problem with the inake leaning out the mix and causing pinking. This is especially prevalent on older cars with crusty injectors.
