Re: 325i locations
I see. I have a rhd m3 i'm very interested in but if it doesnt come off then i'll be looking for a 325i. Dont mind spending the money, its just got to be a real good one. The 318i cab that i have just sold seemed to one problem after another. just random stuff. I would have my next car as a second/w...

Re: How well did you take to LHD?
Thinkin about a rhd m3 (conversion) but i have heard some stories about them. just wondering if i could go with a lhd. I've been told you get better feel from the brake pedal (no torsion bar) in a lhd and the steering rack is pretty good too.

There was a car like this in a repaire garage in Bognor. Same graphics. I only seen it through the window though when the garage was shut. When i got a min to go have a good peak, it was gone
!
Are there any sites or pages about where we can have a good look at specs and stuff?

could dodgy vac hoses cause this? Mine misfires when i touch the throttle, like when pulling away in first. i've not long had plugs, oil... Ran better but still not quite perfect.

Re: 4,45 diff in 318is cab???
Are you sure yours is a 4,27? i had 130mph from the cab with the 4,27. rev were somewhere just below 6k. The 4.10 gave me 135mph still under 6k!

4,45 diff in 318is cab???
The original was a 4,27 but cant find another. i have found a 4,45 now though. its out of a 320i touring auto with 45k on it. I can imagine the accelleration will be good again but it wont be too revvy now will it? The 4,10 diff thats in there at the moment will do but it did slow it down a bit. Wou...

Re: Stud extractor needed?
Halfords do a set of Lazer stud extractors for about £6-7. i used these to get my wheel nuts off when i lost the key. Just drill into the centre of the stud/bolt and wind one of them into your drill hole. They are a reverse thread so when they go tight they start undoing the bolt. Good luck dude!

Re: 3,91 diff on a 318is cab???
Stu, i think its a small case. the 4,27 is in my garage but going to the tip soon. one of the two, or maybe both prop bearings have gone in it. was going to rebuild it untill i found out what was involved. When i went from the 4,27 to the 4,10, i noticed the acceleration suffer. A difference of 0,17...

Re: 3,91 diff on a 318is cab???
i really wanted a 4,27 though. the car was still good for 130-140 but never need that. just wanted it to be a bit nippy really. my limiter comes in at 6500rpm. with the 4,10 in there, in 5th, its doing 75 at 3250rpm. so its geared for 150 at the moment but with less acceleration. just thought the 3,...

3,91 diff on a 318is cab???
My cab had a 4,27 from new. this broke. i replaced it with a 4,10 for now as this one isn't very good either. i ordered another diff from bmc before xmas and i have been sent a 3,91. they insist it came from the 318i cab they were breaking. anyway, is it worth putting it on or will it make the car t...

Re: Rebuild diff?
yeah thanks. im just very impatient and thought bearings would be the quickest way. Thanks for pointing out how much work is needed for the job. i nearly jumped right in the deep end! Anyway, i rang BMC(bmparts) as they have a '93 318i cab with 66k which will have the 4,27 ratio diff i want. £60+v...

Re: Rebuild diff?
Cheers Stu. Think i might!
Has anybody else had a diff fail on them? if you have, What failed?
As i say the noise was quite loud and only on deceleration when in gear. does it sound like bearings? Just dont want to go spending a load of money on it when its something else thats fcuked!

Rebuild diff?
Just last week my diff failed on my cab. it screamed when i came off the power with it gear but was ok when being driven. i spoke to a gearbox specialist and he reckons that it is the bearings as the crown wheel and pinion rarely fail. he can replace them all for £400+vat. at the moment i have put...

Re: Diff has just gone! Help!!!
is it worth changing the oil before i put it on? Like i said, it's a 4.10 but dont think it was the original diff on the 318is that i took it from. Just out of interest does anybody know what ratio mine is on my cab? It was an M40 engine in it.

Diff has just gone! Help!!! NEW ONE FITTED NOW 10th dec
On the way back from southampton and the diff went. got home but it made a right noise when i backed off the throttle with it in gear. Anyway, i have a spare one (4.10) off the 318is that i broke. But, when you turn either one of the drive shafts (outputs) it feels quite notchy. is this right becaus...

i have had two slave cylinders go in the last few hundred miles. i have used Halfrauds brake/clutch fluid both times and i think this is what has caused them both to leak.
