Re: Shadowline trim removal

They don't clip off, easily.... at least mine didn't when I removed all of them from a rear door. The trims are shaped to wrap the door frame, and need to be bent slightly to be removed from the frame, then bent some more to access and cut through the silicone holding them to the frame. I had to rem...

I had the same thing happen ... also on a touring, no poly bushes or uprated mounts, all stock. The front tab where the n/s ARB bracket attaches broke clean off .. it looked like rust got the better of it. Thought about welding a new tab, ended up finding and fitting another subframe. Which turned o...

Re: battery drain 320 grrr

An amps clamp is a device that fits around a cable and will tell you what current is flowing through it.

I'm not sure how much an amps clamp is, but a multimeter will be cheaper.

Personally I would visit Maplins before Halfrauds.

Re: battery drain 320 grrr

Until you get a multimeter, you could always disconnect the battery earth lead when you park up for the night.

It is a PITA having to reconnect it each morning, but at least that way it'll still hold a charge?

Have you checked to see what the drain on the battery is with all the doors closed, and no key in the ignition? You can check the drain on the battery with an amps clamp, or disconnect the battery earth and connect a meter between the earth post on the battery and the earth lead. IIRC anything above...

Another :thumb: for James.

I bought a front sub-frame, rear door and rear 1/4 for my touring from him.

A genuine seller, who is eager to help with anything E30 related, he also offers loads of advise.

That's a good price for the carb, ... and for the install too.

Weavers did the same swap on a neighbours 316 a while ago, and he was/is pleased with the results.

Let us know how you get on?

Re: front wishbones

It sounds like your mechanic probably means you have some worn ball joints. If most of the ball joints are bust, and your paying for labour, it'll be cheaper to replace the complete wishbone, as it'll take your mechanic alot less time than removing and press fitting each ball joint. The cost of buyi...

I guess I could try and detach the pump bit and attach it to the old unit (assuming they're compatible)? Def the way forward, I've just did a similar thing. I removed the black and red wires from the bottom of the main connector to remove the pump from the frame, and re-soldered the 2 wires of the ...

If they're proper seized - i.e. if a ring spanner, and mole grips rounds them.

... then, you'll probably need to heat them to get them out in one piece.

Re: replacing front subframe...any major problems?

Hi tommy, I swapped my sub frame out a few weeks ago. The only thing you've not mentioned is removing the antirollbar drop links from the suspension arm. I didn't have to split the outer ball joints. With the inner ball joint, and the lolly pop removed - you can swing the arm clear of the subframe. ...

@Sam: Thanks for the headsup on the rears - I'll check them out later tonight.

... I'm assuming if I want a proper look, the complete headliner needs removing?

Rusty Sunroof Drain Mounts - does anyone have a fix?

Hi, I've had a little water in the drivers foot well for a while now, today it's gotten worse. The o/s carpet and headliner are saturated, water is every where  I had a quick look at the sunroof drains, and found the o/s front drain point has corroded. It is still attached to the water hose, bu...
