Wanted: E34 Front Wing bottom and rear sill area
Have asked the same question on the bmw5 forum but you lot were so helpful with my E30 that I thought it worth a punt. Anyone out there got a nearly rust free bottom front wing and rear sill area - drivers side for now, but will take both sides if available - any colour? Seems to be a lack of breake...

Re: E34 530i V8 MTech Sill Repairs
Had a reply from an Australian chap that has helped me out in the past and it sheds a bit more light on the slots and bottom lip shape. It looks like the slots have no bottom edge and the water drains through these on to the outer sill which has a teapot type lip. It beggars belief that BMW put so m...

In the process of fabricating new sill patches and jacking points on my son's E34 and as you can see the bottom edge is completely shot. Can anybody tell me if there should be drainage slots for the sunroof pipe in the sill edge? Has anyone got pictures of a naked E34 sill? Front Drivers side jackin...

Re: DIN and SAE Brake pipe Flares
Thanks for the replies. I was concerned about the differing shape of the flare as in the picture rather than the hollow bolts. I thought it might be important to replicate the DIN flares as on the old pipe I have just removed. Although my brake flare tool can do DIN flares it's a lot easier to do go...

Replacing front brake lines with cunifer. The old BMW steel pipes have single DIN flares. Can I replace these with single SAE flares, the thread pitch on the SAE connector is the same.

Saw this comment when I was Googling about renewing antifreeze: "I took my 2005 MCS for an "Inspection 1" service today at 4 years old. Lifetime Antifreeze?
I have noticed that BMW use a lifetime antifreeze in some of their newer cars. Set me thinking that if you can keep up the measured strength of your bog standard antifreeze by topping it up with a neat solution would you have to change the whole lot every 4/5 years? Save a lot of grief with air lock...

Replacing an old Blaupunkt radio for a newer variety and have managed to match up all the cables except for the speakers. Can anyone please tell me which is the + terminal on a 2-pin DIN - spade or pin?

Seems the consensus of opinion is down to driving style. You don't think its anything to do with earlier clutches having asbestos in their make-up or is this another urban myth?

Got to get some sheet metal from the local panel supplier to weld some patches in the wheel arches and onto the chassis rails. The wheel arch metal looks thinner than the chassis rail metal. Can anybody tell me what guage metal to order?

Re: Axle Stand points when removing rear sub frame?
Couldn't get the picture to work in the last post.
Trolley jack is under the sub frame mounting bolt and the axle stand is under the rear jacking point. I didn't release the trolley jack because it all looked a bit precarious.

The car is up on ramps at the moment, the fun starts when I have to take the wheels off, hence the question. The trolley jack and axle stand were in position ready for lifting when I thought it looked a bit iffy.

I am in the process of replacing the rear subframe, where would you support the back end of the car? As you see in the pic one of the jacking points has been welded, is this still an option or is there somewhere else? I have read a lot of threads about jacking points but none of them seem to answer ...

Re: 320i Cylinder Head lifting
Thanks for the reply.
I seem to remember reading a few threads that it was best to leave the manifolds on as, especially in the case of the exhaust manifold, it would be quite easy to break a stud if removed in situ. Bentley manual makes no mention of removing the manifolds before removing the head.

Had this car since new, 160,000 miles on the clock, original clutch, only failed to start once in 21 years (fuel pump relay - tap with a screwdriver got us home) and never failed an MOT.
