The E36 318is 4door was a run out model highly spec'd to move a few cars to make way for the E46.
All UK E36 318is 4drs had full M'tech kit sports seats, sports suspension etc and were mainly in Avus blue.
Rare in the UK yes as it was the last 500-1000 cars on the production line.

Re: Baur E24 on EBay!
In my 18 years of service I never did see or hear of a baur E24.
As far as I am aware BMW only comissioned the E21 and E30 to have the baur conversion.

They did the E23 745i in South Africa which was right hand drive though can't remember if it had the M6 engine or 3.5 turbo in it.Pilsbury wrote:I think it was like the E23 745i where RHD wasn't possible - or easily done.

They are a very good car I've always wanted one mself, engines are sound as long as they have been looked after. Watch the tailgate as when you press the button to release it it should spring totally up by itself.

Re: 325 MOT goodness
you can do it yourself but can be quite awkward as you would need to bend the pipe to shape.
Other than that any reputable garage should be able to do it for you. The pipe itself no more than £10 to £15 it's the labour that will be the worst for the wallet.

Get the Crank position Sensor checked out if this is faulty the car will not start.

Re: orginal bmw remote fob
If you have the system 3 alarm (black oblong remote corner cut off with single button) you need to take your old one apart and see where the score marks and soldered joints are and copy them to the new remote.
It is very tricky to do but can be done outside of the dealership,

Hi There Go for the 06 plate if you can as they had irradicated the turbo problem by then. Modified the Oil breather so it worked properly without clogging up. In my experience with the 1 series they were pretty reliable. If you buy outside of the BMW Dealer network make sure you phone your nearest ...

or that the parts department might have been shut on saturday? you only asked on friday dinnertime.... A lot of parts departments close for stock-taking on Friday lunchtime and re-open Monday morning. Agreed but they should inform of this if they were stock taking so posts like this do not happen

Re: E46
Be aware of the Coolant Expansion bottle.
They are prone to splitting if there is the slightest of over pressure in the system.
The rear trailing arm front bushes are the same as the E36.

How to tell if Donor car has EWS fitted or not.
The easiest way to tell if a donor car has ews or not is to check the cars key blade colour
Silver - NON EWS
Bronze - EWS
Alternatively is to check the build date
pre 01/95 NON EWS
post 01/95 with EWS.
Hope this helps
