Re: Forged Pistons and compression ratios

My understanding of the compression ratio was the difference between the volume in the cylinder when the piston is at top dead centre and when it is at bottom dead centre, and dividing these volumes will give you the ratio. You could have a small gap between the piston and the head at tdc and still ...

electric mirrors

I've finally got round to having a look at the wiring for my mirrors as they havent worked since i got the car. I took the speaker out of the footwell and there are quite a few wires that are not connected to anything: http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i306/mohicanmonkey/15032009.jpg The car doesnt ...

Re: 3.64 diff on a 320

The tyre size is the reason your speedo is out - diff ratio has nothing to do with that. I actually prefer a 320i with a long diff, like the early ones had. They're pretty pointless for performance either way, and longer gearing makes them more pleasant for cruising and improves economy. i understa...

Re: 3.64 diff on a 320

just been reading the e30 wiki page and my 320 would have had a 4.10 in. http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/E30_Differentials the above link says: For 3250 RPM, 5th gear, 205/55/R15 wheels: 4.10:1 (318iS) final drive == 69.4 MPH 3.64:1 (325i) final drive == 78.2 MPH so that makes it a huge...

Re: 3.64 diff on a 320

Are you sure its 4.1? if so theres no way im going for a 3.64, maybe a 3.91 instead. I used to do aroung 3500rpm for 70 in 5th i think. Used to be able to work out what ratios from reve but cant remember now.

3.64 diff on a 320

Hi just wondering if anyone out there has ever put a 3.64 diff on a 320? I just recently put new wheels on my 320 which i believe has a 3.91 as standard, but the circumference of the new tyres is smaller than the old ones. i have noticed a bit of a difference in acceleration and the speedo is now ou...

Thanks. The tyres are 205/40/16 and 215/40/16 went for falkens and they seem pretty good even in the wet last night.

I had thought about a 30mm drop but I think its on the original springs which have probably compressed a bit anyway. What drop is yours fuzzy?

Ok so they don't actually glow its just that my phone camera is crap. Took these to The Wheel Specialist in Manchester the other weekend and I think they did an amazing job. it turns on the side lights for the side that you press down. i think its for when you park somewhere funny at night and want people to be able to see where your car is i.e. if it sticks into the road a little. I imagine it only puts a small current through so your battery doesnt get flat.
