Re: lots of water in drivers footwell

thanks for the replies.

The drivers side wiper is in the middle of the vent - I can't prise the vent off because the wiper is holding it in place?

lots of water in drivers footwell

Hi All, Was driving in some pretty heavy rain yesterday and over the course of the drive (about 2 hours) my footwell basically filled with water. If I was pointing down hill about 2-3 inches of water gathered around my feet! This is a new development. I've had a look through the site and had a look ...

Re: a whirring sound

which? the whirring? I just replaced my exhaust (this morning in fact) and now that it's a lot quieter I may have been able to detect it at lower speeds but as it was given it was only really audible above 30mph I never really checked that out. Also about 60mph I started getting a rythmic vibrating ...

Re: a whirring sound

I already have an LSD and really wasn't looking forward to the cost of replacing it. I did research it though and these seem to be pretty good value: http://www.diffsonline.com/product/used.shtml From what I've read the "whining" noise seems to indicate a dodgy diff and from my experience a "whirrin...

Re: a whirring sound

I don't know if you are still interested but I had the same problem on my 89 325, it turned out to be the os rear wheel bearing.

I was afraid my diff was on the way out and was glad to get it fixed so easily/cheaply!

Re: Whining Diff

I appreciate the input! MY exhaust is incredibly noisy. So for starters I'm going to to get that replaced. At least it should allow me to hear the various noises better. I think I will book it into a garage and get them to diagnose the problem. Though I'm nearly sure the diff should be replaced. Wil...

Re: Whining Diff

Back to the rumbling guys, Anyone experienced this and come up with an answer?

Any suggestions on how to test for it? given it only appears at about 60-70 mph?

Thanks again!

Re: Whining Diff

I had the car up on stands and ran it til I heard the whirring noise. So I don't think that the bearings could be the cause. I had a look at the oil and it was really clean - looked like it had been changed recently. I've only had the car a few weeks. I didn't drain it from the bottom though so I su...

Re: Smell of petrol

I was under the car and checked all the lines. There was no sign of petrol or a smell of it so I don' think it's that.

Re: Whining Diff

This is a bit of a coincidence - I was about to make the exact same post. I get a whirring noise from my diff that increases with the speed. what causes this and what are the remedies? - it's a 325 sport. I don't know if this is related, but, at about 70 mph i start to get a strange rumbling/vibrati...

Re: Smell of petrol

Sorry! It's a m20 (I think) 325. Are the GSF exhausts decent quality? I think it is running rich, I've only had it a few weeks so I have no baseline to jusge it against but shes to go through petrol pretty quick! The fumes smell pretty rich, I wasn't sure whether it was raw fuel or rich exhaust but ...

Re: Smell of petrol

I had a good look over the weekend and I think it's my exhaust. It's an original 2 part system and the back section is worse for wear. I think that the fumes build up under the car and then make their way into the car through the windows etc when I come to a stop at lights or whatever. What are my o...

Smell of petrol

As the subject suggests - I have a smell of petrol in the cab. It's generally only when I have the sunroof or windows open - especially if I push on. I pulled the backseat up and removed both panels. Both were completely dry and there wasn't a smell of petrol at all from these spots. I have had a lo...

Re: Headlight Reminders

They were on for about 8 hours, from when I left it for work till I got back after. The irony didn't escape from me.

I assume fitting the BMW one would be a nicer job - possibly plug and play? Anyone know the parts numbers or how much it would cost?

Headlight Reminders

I got back to my car this evening to discover a flat battery - I'd left the parking lights on it seems. I'm not used to the car not reminding me the lights are on when I get out . I'm sure there is some kit I can fit to have a beep sounded if I try the same manouvre again - anybody got any suggestio...

Re: No indicators!!! HELP!

I checked and fuse 4 was blown. There weren't any fuses in 3 or 16. So I took a quick spin to the local dealers and got one. They wanted a euro for it, but when I produced a 50 he said forget it... :)

Threw it in and now I'm back being a polite indicating driver! :)

Thanks for the info!

Re: No indicators!!! HELP!

I don't have either of those fitted. Will there definitely be fuses in the box for them? If not can you tell which fuse numbers will do the horn and hazards so I definitely have something to swap over? Thanks for your help! This is the kind of problem I like - easy to fix! I'll let you know how I ge...

Re: No indicators!!! HELP!

It's an mid 89 That sounds very plausible. The floor of the car got covered in little washers and springs but I couldn't figure out where from. It was when the cable sparked off the bare metal that I figured out what I had broken! :( I then taped up the two ends of that which were seperate at the ti...

No indicators!!! HELP!

I installed my stereo last night. I got one of those looms to go from the accessories panel to an ISO block. The only thing that went wrong was that I managed to bust the glove box light and sprung pin. Anyhow, I jumped in the car this morning and started on the journey to work. I have no indicators...
