Re: E3 O** number plates

I plan to have 2 sets of plates one leagal for the mot and the other for genral use. The amount of use my e30 gets I very much doubt that I'll get pulled. If I do the fine will be insignificant compared to the fule cost anyway! I got E3 OBW. MS (my initials) was taken so BW was as close to BMW I cou...

Dont know mate but I just replaced the dampers on my other car and both seemed to return at the same rate. Both took the same effort to compress which was not much. They were new out of the box but cheap pattern parts.
Hope that helps.

Re:

I removed mine the other week. They were in very good condition and seemed very sturdy the only reason that I removed them was because the inlet manifold was comming off so I could clean it. The reason for that was that I took the egr valve off and was shocked how much hard and soft gooey crud (abou...

Come to think of it, saloon and touring would be the same. On the 46 the wood appears to be metal all the way through. I dont know about the gear stick though.

Re: Individual leather In the e34 535i Touring

I like it. Your right about the wood though so what are you going to do? I want to change the wood effect trim in my 46 but finding trim for tourings is a nightmere. I have considered going diy and sanding, priming, painting myself but am worried about the finish I could achive. What are you going f...

MOT soon - smoking 320d + other faults

Any one got any ideas why my 320d has started smoking dense black/grey smoke when on heavy load? So far I have replaced the breather. Cleaned the inlet manifold and bypassed the EGR valve. I can feel the diffrence its quicker to pick up has more pre boost torque and the top end is more of a kick ins...

Prop removal is easy just use the handbrake and a spanner, the exhaust is harder as the fixings are allways rusty and either snap or round.

Re: Tourer fuel line/tank related

I was looking at mine yesterday and a 55L tank is £125 from GSF the bigger one is more. On mine there are 3 metal lines that run along the passenger side of the car send, return and one that just goes to the front wing via a rubber hose that is just free in the inner wing. My send and return didnt l...

I have used it a few times. Not bad but sometimes not right. I spent ages looking for the star adjuster at the 10 o'clock position when adjusting my handbrake as thats where it told me to look and it wasn't until I took the disk off that I found it nearer the 12 o'clock position.

Re: Clutch fluid silver/grey

No sign of fluid around the pedal or under the carpet and no sign of fluid around the slave on the gearbox. Its very strange. The clutch behaves normally, biting low and progressively. Is it possible that its leaking into the gearbox? I don't know how hydraulic clutches work but I imagine that there...

Clutch fluid silver/grey

Hi all, I noticed that my clutch fluid reservoir was empty again so I filled it to the max level and ran it round the block. I looked again and although the level was the same the fluid had changed from a nice amber to a silver/grey so i sucked it out with a syringe and repeated. The same thing happ...

Register engine swap ?

Those of you that have swapped engines for a larger capacity have you registered the change with the dvla?
So on your logbook (v5) does the model of the car ie 318is stay the same?
The capacity obviously changes (1796 to 3430)
Does anything else change?
