Re:

I sorted it in the end from wiring diagrams seems I needed a switched power to pin 9 on the ews which I think is connected to that position switch thing to open the starter relay.

5 Speed box on S50B32

Anyone here ever fitted a 5 speed box on a M3 3.2 engine? I know it all bolts up thats no problem its allready fitted to the car but the car can't start off the key. I know 100% the EWS is working and if you put the ign on and jump the starter it will run. I noticed I have 2 pins down by the gearbox...

Re: How much for a full 3.5 conversion?

Mine just didn't excite me so I sold it Paz and used the cash to buy an S50 3.2 I picked up a sport compact with a damaged head on Thursday so hopefully next weekend I can build an exciting car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/86jay/9f844ef6.jpg This was the engine he's talking about just aft...

Re: E36/46 Z3 racks with an M30

I managed to get a ton well about 5cm between the shaft and the manifold yesterday with just 1 chop rotate and weld. I'm hoping it will be ok for a E36/46 rack when I get one but its fixed the tapping on the brake reaction bush that I had.

Re:

Thanks I'll keep my eyes out for one of those setups.

Anyone managed to remove the gearbox with the engine in P3 and still in the car?

Non duel mass flywheel options?

Any one not running a single mass flywheel on their m30? What's the deal with it and can it be done cheap using other BMW parts?

Re:

We didn't run into any trouble on the brake linkage. I just spent a couple of hours tidying up the wireing swapping the pins and earthing the heater. Now it's drivable although my down pipe is tickling the lollypop and upseting me so I'll get on that next weekend. My engine was meant to be from a Ha...

Re:

paz has a E28 manifold for sure but it cleared the steering shaft better than the E34 ones on mine. You just have to bash fire wall in more on the drivers side of the tunnel for the exhaust to slot in. If we get really keen Paz can have the m5/e23 linkage combo fitted as they are way shorter than th...

Re:

Well I did most of the conversion last night the engine is in and the standard 325 linkage worked perfectly with a few washers. So I guess the story should be start with a 325 and it's much less of a ball ache.

Strange that lines up really nice, I know my stuff came from an E34 so I will see how it goes at the weekend. I guess Paz's gearbox could have come from anything although the ECU was from an E34 and we definatly fitted a 325 linkage. I checked and the shells are the same part number so its not like ...

As far as I know we used a E34 535 box it was in a 318is if that makes a difference but I can't see the floor being to different. We had to chop about 2cm off the back of the arm so we could get the clip in the gearbox. Now the shifter sits really far back enough so we had to bend the hole abit to g...

Gear Linkage?

I know people say you can use a standard 325 linkage on the swap but from doing one allready I know it needs to be shorter. I had a look and an Alpina B6 ETK and it seems they used an E28 M5 aluminim arm and a E23 selector rod. I just wondered if anyone had tried these or what position would the eng...

Re: M20 Loom?

Now to carry on with the work, prop to finalise, exhaust to bolt up and the conversion is done. If you had all the parts you need and they were known to be good, this is a day or two's work i reckon. We'll see next Saturday if we can do it in a day although I might make a start by taking the old en...
