E30 Zone

Dear All, Yesterday I traded in my 21 year old E30 tourer for a 316i E46 Saloon. A sad day for me, but the repair bills and time needed were beyond my means at this time. Just noticed all my lights seem to have a very slight flicker, which decreases when engine is revved. I noticed it first on the radio display light.

Just for the record, the new pump was different from the one I removed. It was shorter and smaller in diameter by about 20%.
However I managed to make it fit.

Please could someone help. Will a 318 fuel pump, typically off ebay, fit my 316 touring? Got the pump out. Will bench test at work tomorrow. How can I make sure I order the correct replacement on eBay please?

No sign of that. It only begins to whine after running for a time say 15 mins...

Just noticed a whining sound from under the fuel tank. Fuel pump was replaced about 5 years ago - under rear seat, "in tank" variety. I guess the only option is a new one?

I've just noticed a leak has devloped form the the sump/block gasket. (M40). The bolts seemed very loose - less than the 9-11 foot/lb. Do they work loose, and should I try re-torgueing? (How the heck do you spell that!). If not is a new gasket easy to fit?

It is definitly blowing fuse 10.
I just did some more checks under the car.
Checking with reverse gear engaged I get continuity between the 2 poles of the switch as you'd expect. However there is also continuity between the casing of the gearbox and each pole...

The reverse lights come on and the fuse doesn't pop...

Checked out said wires this morning, no breaks or damage found. Even stripped back sheathing to examine where it passes through the clip. All appears OK there. Found out that fuse blows when reverse gear is selected. Could it be a problem with one of the bulbs? What next?

So, I start the engine. All instruments come on for a second or so, then all go dead except the speedo. Heatar fan dead as well.

It seems one or both struts on my '92 touring have failed - was it the cold weather? (Only one appears to be leaking oil). Whats the best source of replacements please?

Do I need to jack up the whole front end? Does the bar have to come off, or is it just the barckets?

My touring has failed on slight play on front roll bar bushes.
How hard are they to replace please - is there a quick step-by-step outline you can point me to?
Also, are the parts a main agent job only?
