Leaving the Zone
Dear All, Yesterday I traded in my 21 year old E30 tourer for a 316i E46 Saloon. A sad day for me, but the repair bills and time needed were beyond my means at this time. I would like to thank you all very much for help on this forum over 9.5 years of owning an E30. They are great cars. As for the E...

Flickering Lights
Just noticed all my lights seem to have a very slight flicker, which decreases when engine is revved. I noticed it first on the radio display light.

Which Fuel Pump
Please could someone help. Will a 318 fuel pump, typically off ebay, fit my 316 touring? I mean just the pump bit. e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bmw-318-Petrol-Pump-Fuel-Pump-Tank-1992-1998-New-/230889161129?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3...

Whining noise - fuel pump dying?
Just noticed a whining sound from under the fuel tank. Fuel pump was replaced about 5 years ago - under rear seat, "in tank" variety. I guess the only option is a new one?

Joy is an old E30
I drove my son's new Ford Focus yesterday. Today I drove to work in my old E30. Hey, I've been missing something! What a wake up call! I suddenly saw my E30 in a whole new light again! I've let her go a bit recently, - bodywork wise, but this is gonna get me back on to her when the weather warms up!...

Leak from sump area
I've just noticed a leak has devloped form the the sump/block gasket. (M40). The bolts seemed very loose - less than the 9-11 foot/lb. Do they work loose, and should I try re-torgueing? (How the heck do you spell that!). If not is a new gasket easy to fit?

Re:
It is definitly blowing fuse 10.
I just did some more checks under the car.
Checking with reverse gear engaged I get continuity between the 2 poles of the switch as you'd expect. However there is also continuity between the casing of the gearbox and each pole...

Tailgate Strut
It seems one or both struts on my '92 touring have failed - was it the cold weather? (Only one appears to be leaking oil). Whats the best source of replacements please?

Thanks. (BTW I take it a 'sway bar' is the same thing as an Anti-roll Bar?)
Do I need to jack up the whole front end? Does the bar have to come off, or is it just the barckets?

Anti Roll Bar Bush Replacement
Hi
My touring has failed on slight play on front roll bar bushes.
How hard are they to replace please - is there a quick step-by-step outline you can point me to?
Also, are the parts a main agent job only?
Thanks

Re: Tail Light Malfunction
Hi - and thanks! I thought about the bulb issue a bit more after Brian's idea. I had swapped the bulbs, but I had only checked the O/S was remaining on. It was, but I should have checked the N/S more closely. After some time it is now repeating the problem. The bulb does look fine, but the base is v...

Tail Light Malfunction
My O/S tail light is playing up weirdly. If I go out to may car now and turn the lights on, the O/S tail light will not be on. If I slap the lens it will come on. It will stay on it seems until having been standing for a while - minutes or hours, it matters not. I have checked the bulb, the bulb con...

Hello - and thanks
Hi there. I thought it's about time to post something as I've had so much benefit from the Zone. I only discovered the Zone when I was forced to google "M40 camshafts" - my regular fella wanted £600ish + and said it was 5 hours labour! Shopped around and got the whole job done at a place in Maldon...
