Tyres for standard 15inch BBS wheels?
Hi All, I want to replace the tyres on an E30 325iS, it has the standard 15 inch BBS wheels. The current tyres are 205/55/15 - firstly, is this the correct size? I notice 55 profile tyres are always expensive, do people use 50 profile instead perhaps, and if so what effect does it have on the speedo...

I did this job last weekend on an E30 325i, never worked on these cars before and it was very straightforward. No need to worry about things moving a little once the belt is off, just check the marks are there on the cam and crank pulleys to line everything back up to TDC when you put the new belt o...

Did a bit of work on the car today, changed the cambelt, tensioner, waterpump and thermostat. All went well aside from a couple of tricky rusty or rounded bolts. It was going dark when I finished but filled the cooling system up with plain water just to test for leaks and all appears well. Will doub...

Nice report! :D I've stayed at that hotel before, been to the 'Ring a few times in my trusty old Golf GTI 16v but this summer I will be braving it in my mates E30 325i, still taking my Golf but probably give the BMW a go on track too to see how it compares. Getting to Dover is a pain isn't it...

I've checked the cars service history and it last had a cam belt, water pump, tensioner etc in the year 2000 and it's done 30k since so I think it's time for a bit of an overhaul! Going to change the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat and coolant - that should get things going in the rig...

Re:
Cheers Brian, will pick up the bits and get on that little job next then :) Don't make a habit of overheating the engine! They don't like it at all! Of course! Don't worry, only drove for a minute with temp gauge in the upper scale and stopped immediately when it hit the red part for fear of doing a...

Cheers Brian, will check those things out :) Another fault occured today, the thermostat packed in, jammed shut and caused the car to get a little hot - temp gauge went into the red even with fan running and plenty of coolant in the tank! Had to call the RAC and he jammed 'stat open to get me home b...

Thanks for the replies, very helpful! :D Nice to know that connector I found in the engine bay is correct and shouldn't be plugged in anywhere and I will look into the other points. The heated window switch definitely lights up so will check if there's any power getting to the element and take it fr...

E30 325i Sport - few questions/issues
Hi All, Right, I've taken my mate's E30 ('89 325iS) on loan for a while, partly to help him out 'cos he has nowhere to park it at the moment, and partly to evaluate whether to buy it for myself or not. So far so good! Anyway, while I've got it I thought I'd sort out a few little issues with the car ...

Ok - 20 inch it is then, thanks for the replies. Good point about a possible chipped screen, hadn't thought of that - will check it out.

E30 wiper blades
Hi, This is probably a silly question - but what is the correct size for the front wiper blades on a '89 E30 325iS? The reason I ask is that GSF seem to list all E30's as 20 inch wiper blades but when I measure the existing ones on the car they are both 18 inch ones. Could it be the car is currently...

Thanks for the replies and the welcome :D Some great info so far, much appreciated. Also, good point about the different factory and dealer fit systems, something else to loo...

Excellent - just the sort of replies I was looking for, much appreciated. It sounds like fitting A/C is possible then, if a bit tricky. Did lower spec E30's come with the same A/C system so I could raid something like a 316/318/320 for all the bits if I found one with A/C factory fitted? I assume th...

325i Sport - fitting A/C + ABS fault
Hi, I'm a new member, don't actually have an E30 but looking at buying one from a friend soon, I'm currently something of a VW fanatic. :D The car in question is a 325i Sport, I think it's an '89 model, would that make it an m-tech 2? It has the larger boot spoiler if that's any indication? Anyway -...
