Re: E30 M3 Sport evo sold 159995

I'd enjoy it as much as you can and when you feel the time is right put it up, you 'll get a bite whenever really. I had a 325 chromie for 7years (here) http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=133911&highlight= but sold it last year and went for a 3.0si Z4 Coupe. Great car bu...

Re: E30 M3 Sport evo sold 159995

Old Colonel had an absolute mint E30 M3 in red with black leather (magazine featured and maybe a trophy but can't remember) for £12.5k c.2 years ago. I asked him about it quite recently and he, as a BMW dealer said if he had any inclination they would start getting into the next bracket of pricing h...

325i Auto starting issues...again

Hi All, My automatic '86 325i had starting problems which although never completely got fixed, it was better with a leaner mod (thread below) http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=169369&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= I'm revisiting this issue as its getting re...

Thats right, I was pretty impressed with it.

Yeah, the instructions cover the 2.5 lump with different resistors available to lessen/heighten the desired effect.

Re: Fuel pump not priming

I know! Its so annoying and has the mechanic baffled too - especially since he knows the car for years and recently spent hours rebuilding the head. He is as keen as me to get this last glitch sorted!

The throttle position switch hasn't been checked.. What signs should I look out for here?

Re: Fuel pump not priming

Thanks Brian. The pump was on its way out as developed a very annoying humming noise. I had been putting it off for a while so thougt (hoped) it would cure both issues..annoying noise has gone but the issue at hand reamined.

will get the pressure checked again and report back.

Thanks

Re: Fuel pump not priming

Hi All, Thanks for your replies and apologies for the late update.. I fitted a new pump in the end but the problem of not starting on the button is still there. That makes it a new pump, new TDC, Blue and brown sensors checked and the ECU checked. Any more ideas? Just a shame as now it has a new cam...

Re: Removing Camshaft on an Automatic M20 URGENT

Thanks Will, have passed the information across to the mechanic but its proving tricky as the rocker shaft is causing problems.

Have decided to take the head off and go for the traditonal approach afterall..

Removing Camshaft on an Automatic M20 URGENT

Hi Guys, I've done some reserch on this and seems the camshaft can be replaced without taking the head off - although a tricky job. My mechanic is doing this today based on what I said but called to say if its possible to do this on an automatic as he's raised the engine as far up as it goes but the...

Re: Fuel pump not priming

Thanks Andy and I thought that too mate but its does it with a full tank..and even if I park it at an incline! Brian, just to be clear if its not maintaining pressure initally but is ok after pressure is built up, the non-priming is due to the fuel pressure regulator or the non return valve in the f...

Re: Fuel pump not priming

Hi, The fuel pressure is ok. Which I guess makes sense as after a few cranks, enough pressure is released to start. If the car is switched off and started again its fine which backs up the pressure being ok. I'm not sure if I'm, using the right term in 'priming' but before cranking the engine a nois...

Fuel pump not priming

Hi All,

My 1986 325i has stopped making the priming noise before turning the ignition on. As a result, its a pain to start as takes a few starts to build up some fuel pressure.

I have changed the relay (should I try another?) but fear it could be ECU related..

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Re: 325 Stopping suddenly and orange warning light flicks on

Update: I changed the white relay and as the cold snap has also cleared, all seems to be working ok with no cut outs whilst driving.

However, it used to start on the button but is taking a few starts to fire up. Is that someway connnected or is that a seperate issue?

Thanks!

Re: Camshaft Replacement M20

I was hoping it was the tappets but based on the sound being dense and generally sounding like a bag of tools, I've been advised otherwise.

Not after a performance one mate just the smoothest one possible at low revs that people could recommend.

Good shout on the pressure check. Thanks mate

Hi All, Planning to get the camshaft replaced on my '86 325 but can anyone please advise on things to look out for and other bits that should get replaced at the same time? Also, will the head have to be re-skimmed once taken off? Lastly, I'd like the cam to be as smooth as possible rather than powe...

The pictures mask a couple of blemishes mate such as a couple of rust areas which will need addressing (you can just about see it on the A pillar in the pictures) hopefully will be addressed this summer with a complete alloy refurb.
