chrome and facelift exhausts the same?
Hi all, just wondering if exhaust systems from chrome and facelift 325s are interchangeable? I think I've ended up with a pre-facelift downpipe and a post-facelift rest of the exhaust back from there. They don't slot together right where they should - you end up with 2 flanged pipes butting up toget...

That's bad news then!
Can I visually check that the timing is ok before I fire it back up? Or what should I do?

Re: Replacing 325i flywheel - advice needed on removing gear
Sounds like an embarrassingly obvious solution! Would that be as simple as whacking a big spanner on the front of the engine?
I'm no pro if you hadn't guessed! Just kinda going for it...

Re: Replacing 325i flywheel - advice needed on removing gear
Ok I finally got round to changing the flywheel (timing key-slot had snapped off and caused a lot of damage in there!) and thought I'd post an update for anyone who reads this in the future... The main thing to note is that despite my efforts the only way I could reach all the bell-housing bolts (pa...

Replacing 325i flywheel - advice needed on removing gearbox
Hi just wondering if anyone has any advice on this one. I'm replacing the flywheel on my pre-facelift 325 but cannot undo the top bolts that hold the gearbox onto the ungine. Is it best to undo the engine mounts and lift it all up and out a bit with a hoist to get more room or is there a better way?...

Re: Pre-facelift flywheel swap
Well i guess it would be easy enough to see what I have to swap if I had all the parts there ready. So there's an 'unused' place for the crank position senser to go somewhere on the front of the engine like on newer cars?
and how much would you want for said components??

Pre-facelift flywheel swap
Hi All, Right, getting into the new year now and it's time to sort out the track car - hasn't started since abingdon airfield late last year. Reason - think it's that the flywheel key slot got dislodged. (think only pre-facelifts have this key slot for spark timing, later models do it differently) Q...

Ok, found a donor in a scrappie, heading there shortly.
Can anyone please tell me what the oil pressure switch looks like and where it is??
Should I be able to get all that stuff (particularly toothed wheel) off a car with:
socket set
screw drivers
allen keys
spanners
knife
hammer

Re: died on track - no spark!
Rain stopped play (along with lack of torx sockets) so not checked if the flywheel is ok yet..
What would upgrading the entire management system involve Brian? Obviously later ECU, but what else? And would it be easier or cheaper than changing the flywheel? (if that turns out to be the problem...)

Hi all, I'm afraid it's the old 'no sparker' again! Hope someone can help... It's my '87 325i (pre-facelift) weekend / track car. It just died while on track, when tested at home there's no spark but still pumping fuel.. Have 12v at the coil, tried another in case but no difference. Tried Brianmoooo...

Hmmm interesting. I admit the guy with the R888's did have a dramatic off later in the day after a massive downpour.. Having 2 sets clearly is the way forward (rather than sideways!) but anything's better than the 'Vikings' that are on mine at the moment. Bedford is tempting, and should've made some...

1st Track-day in the 325 - report - CASTLE COMBE 1st Dec
I did my first track day at Castle Combe on saturday, possibly the most fun I've ever had in an e30; without a woman! (and maybe even so  ) We did the whole thing on a tiny budget. Myself and a mate have been sorting this car out for months, rescuing it from the delapidated state it was in when...

Alright sounds good! I'm always paranoid and tread carefully with insurance companies due to some hellish grief they've given me in the past. Didn't wanna blag I'm in a OC then have them invalidate it or whatever. But if it's on their systems then fair enough! cheers chaps

Cheap insurnace - does being in the Zone get you discount?
Hi all. I'm doing my 1st trackday on Dec 1st at Castle Coombe and need to get some insurance sorted for the 325i that's been a work in progress for about a year. I got a quote from Footman James for about £200 (classic policy, 2 people(26+27, 3yrsNCB), 1500 miles per year), but they contacted me a...

Re: Stubborn warning lights?! and brake bleeding problem
I thought I'd let anyone who's interested know how my soft brakes issue was resolved in the end: ISSUE RECAP: Soft brake pedal - brakes would bite in usual position but with very little power, then very long pedal travel from there (with a 'damped' feeling) and virtually no increase in braking force...

Temp gauge not working - not cluster - earth point?
Hi eveyone, my temp gauge doesn't work but have tried an instrument cluster that I know works and no change so that's not the problem. When you turn the ignition on the needle moves to the zero position but stays there regardless of water temp. Also the dash lights for the rev counter and temp gauge...

Re: Series I & Series II Headlights
The projectors are better - with the central round magnifier and smily bit below. They were some of the first projectors to come out and they've been coppied many times since so that's gotta count for something. And they look better IMO.
