Re: Battery light now working back to front?

Well, checked with the meter today and the battery seemed to be charging ok. Took the blue lead off the alternator and started the car, everything fine apart from the red battery light stopped working altogether of course! Stopped the engine, re-connected the blue lead, suddenly everything working a...

Battery light now working back to front?

Since removing and replacing the alternator, the battery light is now on when the ignition is off, but goes off when you switch the ignition on, once the engine is started it stays off as normal. The only thing I'm not sure of is the wiring connections on the back. There is the red and blue which ha...

Re: Need help getting the right bracket to mount PAS pump?

The part we have is the one listed for the car on realoem.com but the bolt holes don't line up with the engine ones, they are about 1cm out?

Any suggestions please?

Need help getting the right bracket to mount PAS pump?

I have an '85 316 E30 that I decided to have PAS fitted. The guy who is doing it for me is having terrible trouble getting hold of the right bracket that attaches to the n/side engine block and holds the Alternator at the top and PAS Pump at the bottom. He got one sent from BMW, part no. 32.42.1.312...

Re: Inspection Light Reset now Oil service light on?

Thanks chaps. Yes, I used the 'short out the pins' method. First time I only did it the once and the inspection lights went off altogether (no greens left on). Drove it for a bit then stopped. When I started the engine again the 'oil service' light came on. I then tried the shorting it twice method ...

Re: Inspection Light Reset now Oil service light on?

If mine is fitted with the non-rechargeable type won't they need replacing anyway because they are flat, the car being 22 years old now?

Inspection Light Reset now Oil service light on?

I've just reset the 'Inspection Light' on my '85 E30 but now the 'Oil Service' light is on permanently. Before the 'Inspection Light' was on permanently but the 'Oil Service' light only started coming on intermitently over the last couple of weeks. Is it the SI batteries and if so what can I replace...

PAS Rack Conversion on '85 E30

I was wondering how difficult this is and what racks are suitable?

The E30 I have is a bog standard 1985 316 2 door sedan, the model before they ditched the chrome bumpers.

Re: Juddering when accelerator slightly in use....

Thanks Brian. Maybe I should have mentioned it had a manual choke, that might have made things clearer. There is definitely a connector for that sender to connect to, I just need the appropriate lead to see if it makes any difference. It has been to two garages (one of them a BMW specialist) and nei...

Re: Juddering when accelerator slightly in use....

Excuse my ignorance, my other car is a Ford Focus 8O , but has the bog standard 316 from '85 actually got an ECU? If so, there may have been problems with it and that's why it was disconnected. It seems to run fine when hot. It was running very rich when I got it because there was a split in the rub...

Re: Juddering when accelerator slightly in use....

Hi there folks, I'm new here so go gently :) I get this is my newly acquired 1985 316 (no fuel injection). It just doesn't like running at 30mph without kangarooing a bit. Apart from that it runs fine (it's only done 52,000 from new!!). One thing I have noticed is that there are two temp senders on ...
